This healthy-looking mama moose and her sweet yearling bull were crossing the road during my travels.

This is the time of year when moose are molting. They shed their thick winter coats and spend several weeks showing a lot of skin before beginning to grow a sleek new summer coat that looks fabulous.

It's also the season when cow moose typically push their yearlings away in preparation for giving birth to a new calf. Mama looks like she may be carrying a calf, but perhaps she's not quite ready to give birth yet. Of course, there's always the chance she isn't pregnant, which would allow this handsome young bull to stay by her side a little longer. 🥰

My guess? There's a calf in there, and this youngster's days of traveling with mom are numbered.
