Jake Liska will be missed across Alaska and beyond. His stoke fueled grooms young and old. The Liska family has been crucial to keep kids on boards; skate, snow and surf! Their mark on Alaska’s alternative sport history is legendary. Jake, we will truly miss running into you in Haines, at the shop or in the mountains. Hope you are brapping, slashing pow, skateing epic sessions, and get barreled in Heavenly Peace!
Jake Liska was bigger than life in every aspect. He loved big, he lived big and HE WENT BIG!!! If you ever rode with him whether it was on a snowboard, snowmachine, motorcycle, skateboard, or whatever else you could send, he could rip it and he would send it, with style. There are people that you will be around in your life, in any profession or activity, and certain people will always be naturally good/better at it. And/or at the very least, make it look easy. He was that….Jake was quite literally “The Jake of all trades” (this is what I would always say). He was good at everything and knew how to fix anything. From engineering type problems to something like playing hockey, he was just naturally good at it. I’d legit be like “how do you even know how to do that sh ”?! Our Dad is like that too…And I love being able to say that.
Pictured is Jake lofting a front seven cork here in Juneau, Alaska. He was really good at getting shots too…when he’d go, he’d get a shot.
I believe Chris Miller took this picture.
