Half Moon Bay goes all in on pumpkins in October, and the Art & Pumpkin Festival is the big weekend. Come stroll Main Street on October 17 and 18, browse the local artists, and see this year's champion giant up close. Plan ahead, because the whole Bay Area wants in.

It's worth a short drive south to experience Tunitas Creek Beach. This brand new county park has just opened after centuries in private hands, with new trails and free parking making it accessible to the public for the first time. It's not often you get a whole new beach to explore.
