KP Cienega Campground

KP Cienega Campground KP Cienga Campground is located in Eastern Arizona, 27 miles south of Alpine, Arizona. It has vault toilets and no water available.

It is a no fee, primitive campground, with 5 spaces for tent camping and trailers up to 16'. Elevation is about 9,000 feet. The KP Trailhead, directly adjacent to

the campground, provides hiking and backpacking opportunities into the Blue Range Primitive Area via the KP Trail ( # 70) with connections to many other trails within the area. Even though the Wallow Fire has devastated the area, it is still a beautiful trail that crosses the KP Creek several times. Just be prepared to have to move some logs from the trail path. When we were there in 2015, we cleared quite a few logs off of the trail. For a somewhat easy hike, we usually go to the first creek crossing and back. For a longer, steeper hike, there is a beautiful waterfall farther on down the trail. Definitely worth the extra effort, if you are physically able to do so.
