In the October 1946 issue of the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine, the Class of 1939 notes include a curious bit of news:

“Herb Hischland, your erstwhile secretary, just reported a successful trip on the Dartmouth Airways…”

From stagecoach to railroad, how we get to Hanover has evolved over the years. Before we had the highways, or the Dartmouth Coach, there was Dartmouth Airways.

As students return to Hanover for a new semester, we’re revisiting the story of the short-lived airline, founded and operated by Dartmouth Alums, which promised to bring Hanover a little closer to the rest of the world.
