Tour of the Manor: The Hull Pretzel Jar Story 🤎🥨

This pretzel jar holds many childhood memories for all of Arthur Hambleton Hull’s grandchildren. There were nine of us, spanning an age difference of fourteen years (1934–1948), so each individual remembrance may differ. To be sure, however, we all have fond and wonderful memories of this special man, known to us as “Da,” Granddaddy, or Granddad.

Our grandfather was, to some of us, or maybe to all, bigger than life! Not only a prominent attorney in Harrisburg, he was also a rather large and imposing man to us, especially when we were small. Thanks though to this pretzel jar, which he always kept full for us, he was approachable. We always had to ask permission from him to have a pretzel, which he always granted with tenderness, love, a smile and a twinkle in his eye from his chair in the library, often before 2:00 PM Sunday dinner.

It just feels so right and good to return this pretzel jar to its rightful place on the library window sill of this magnificent house for all who stay here to enjoy.
