It’s time to trade the summer vibes for pumpkins, costumes, candy and a little River Oaks Halloween mischief! 🕷️🍬🧙‍♀️

We’re already looking ahead to one of our favorite times of the year, and you’ll want to mark your calendars now…

🗓️ SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24TH
🍭 TRICK-OR-TREATING AT RIVER OAKS!

Campers, start thinking about those costumes and how you’re going to decorate your sites, because we want to see River Oaks transformed into a campground full of ghosts, goblins, witches, pumpkins and maybe a few things hiding in the shadows. 👀🌙

And this is just the beginning…

We have plenty of time between now and October 24th to stir the cauldron and see what kind of Halloween fun we can cook up. 🧙‍♀️✨

So dust off the decorations, find the candy bucket and SAVE THE DATE!

Happy Labor Day from River Oaks RV Park & Campground!

Today is more than the unofficial end of summer.

Labor Day is a day to recognize the hardworking people who get up every morning, put in the hours, provide for their families, build our communities, and keep this country moving forward.

It’s for the farmers, teachers, nurses, first responders, truck drivers, construction workers, small-business owners, factory workers, service workers—and every person whose hands, heart, and determination contribute to the world around us.

Here at River Oaks, we see hardworking people every day. And sometimes, after working so hard for everyone else, you need a place where you can simply slow down.

Sit beside the fire. 🎣
Drop a fishing line in the water.
Walk a quiet trail. 🌿
Laugh with your family.
And remember what all that hard work is really for.

So today, we hope you put the work aside for a little while and enjoy the life you've worked so hard to build.

Sometimes the best part of camping isn’t what you do.

It’s what you stop doing. 🌿

You put the phone down.
You stop watching the clock.
You leave the noise behind…and you walk.

Down a trail where the only conversation might be the wind moving through the trees, birds calling somewhere overhead, or the sound of your own footsteps on the ground.

Maybe you walk with someone you love and actually have time to talk.

Maybe you walk alone and finally have time to listen to yourself.

There’s something about being surrounded by nature that reminds us that life doesn’t always have to move so fast. We don’t always need somewhere to go, something to accomplish, or someone who needs something from us.

Sometimes we just need quiet.

☀️🏕️ LABOR DAY WEEKEND STARTS NOW AT RIVER OAKS! 🇺🇸

It’s Friday, the sun is shining, campers are rolling in, and that long-weekend feeling is officially in the air! ❤️

This is what camping is all about — grills firing up, fishing poles hitting the water, campfires glowing after dark, golf carts cruising by, and families and friends slowing down long enough to simply enjoy being together.

🍦🥤 And we’ve got a special treat coming! Sunny Soda Company will be joining us with delicious ice cream and dirty sodas — because every good camping weekend deserves a little something sweet!

So unpack the camper, pull out the lawn chairs, fire up the BBQ, and settle in. The work week is behind us and a beautiful Labor Day weekend at River Oaks is just getting started. 🌳🔥🎣

Okay campers… we are getting EXCITED because this weekend is shaping up to be everything we love about camping! ❤️

🍂 The backpacks are packed…but the campers aren’t. 🏕️

There’s something about this time of year.

Just a few weeks ago, summer seemed endless. Kids were running around barefoot, bicycles were scattered beside campsites, campfires stayed lit long after dark, and nobody was paying much attention to what day of the week it was.

And then, almost overnight, the alarm clocks came back on. ⏰

Backpacks were filled.
First-day outfits were laid out.
School buses started rolling down the roads again. 🚌📚

Summer may be winding down…

but camping season certainly isn’t. ❤️

In fact, some of the best camping days are still ahead of us.

Soon the mornings will have that little chill in the air. Coffee will taste even better sitting outside the camper. ☕ The trees will begin changing colors, sweatshirts will come out after sunset, and campfires will become less about roasting marshmallows and more about pulling your chair just a little bit closer to the flames. 🔥

There’s something peaceful about camping after the rush of summer settles down.

Maybe the kids have school Monday morning.

Maybe you can't take a weeklong vacation anymore.

But you can still pack up on Friday, leave the schedules and laundry behind for a couple of days, and spend a weekend making memories.

Because childhood summers go fast.

Seasons change.

Kids grow up.

But those evenings around the campfire?
Those are the moments they remember. ❤️

So yes… school is back in session.

But here at River Oaks RV Park, we're still camping. 🏕️🌳

🎡 The fair is wrapping up, backpacks are packed, and school starts tomorrow… but who says the FUN has to end? 🎒🍎🏕️

The end of the Iowa State Fair always feels like that unofficial little signal that summer is winding down. But here at River Oaks RV Park, we think there are still plenty of memories left to make! 💚

Because camping season still has a LOT to offer…

🔥 Cool evenings around the campfire
🍫 S’mores that somehow taste better outside
🎣 One more cast before the sun goes down
⛳ Golf cart rides around the park
🌲 Walks on the trails as summer starts turning toward fall

And parents… school starting tomorrow means you survived another summer! 😂👏

So here's to the kids heading back to school, the teachers getting ready for another year, and all the families who made some pretty amazing memories this summer.
