We are incredibly proud to congratulate our heroes, Jan and Harold Treland, on being named Grand Marshals of the Musky Festival!
This honor holds special meaning for the Treland and Treeland family. Jan and Harold join a remarkable family tradition of service and community leadership. Harold's parents, Oscar and Jonnie Treland, second-generation owners and operators of Treeland Resorts, were previously honored as Grand Marshals. Years later, Cheryl Treland, a third-generation owner and operator of Treeland Resorts alongside Jan and Harold, also received the distinction. This is truly special.
For decades, Jan and Harold have dedicated themselves not only to the growth of Treeland Resorts, but to the Hayward community as a whole.
Harold has served in numerous leadership roles throughout the region, including Founder and President of the Hayward Foundation for Educational Enrichment, President of the Hayward Board of Education, President of the Hayward Sports Center, Chief of Race for the American Birkebeiner, Chief of Nordic Events for the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics, and President of the Sawyer County Snowmobile/ATV Alliance.
Jan devoted 26 years to education, serving as a guidance counselor and special education professional while also volunteering countless hours to community organizations, including serving as President of the AODA Committee and Chairperson of Gifts for Kids.
In the 1980s, Jan and Harold, alongside Cheryl Treland and other family members, became third-generation owners and operators of Treeland Resorts. Under their leadership, the business grew from a small fishing resort with 12 cabins and a beer bar into multiple full-service resort locations that today include 56 vacation homes, 100 premium RV sites, a restaurant and bar, more than 40 marina rentals, and employment for up to 75 people during peak season.
As Treeland Resorts approaches its 98th year in business, and with family roots in the Hayward area dating back to 1912, this recognition reflects generations of hard work, leadership, community involvement, and dedication to the Northwoods.
Congratulations, you are the best!
Our Hayward Area Chamber is proud to announce Harold & Jan Treland as this year’s 76th Musky Festival Grand Marshals!
