You will find our resort to be clean, quiet, well shaded and scenic. Our staff continuously strives to offer a well-maintained and modern facility while not losing sight of the rustic setting which makes us unique. The Rafter J Bar Ranch is comprised of five camping areas separated by alpine meadows and shaded by large ponderosa pines. Choose a remote site, or camp close to the resorts activity ce

nter. We offer electric, water and sewer sites along with many tent sites. Some sites have satellite TV hookups. Enjoy a crackling fire and quiet hours that begin at 10:00 P.M. There's also full-time camp security. Enjoy our swimming complex which features the addition of a hot tub. We are located adjacent to the George Mickelson Hiking & Biking Trail. Our resort is also surrounded by National Forest with endless opportunities to hike and bike. The Rafter J Bar Ranch is the perfect headquarters for Black Hills sight seeing, minutes away from Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State park and the 1880 Train.

A reminder…..🔥 Dry Season = Higher Fire Risk 🔥
Every campfire deserves your full attention.
• Keep fires small and in designated fire rings only.
• Never leave a fire unattended. At all.
• Drown the fire with water, stir the ashes, and drown it again until it’s cool to the touch.
• Follow local fire restrictions (ours @ Rafter currently is must be completely extinguished no later than 11pm & absolutely no fireworks /firecrackers allowed).
A few extra minutes can help protect forests, wildlife, and fellow campers. Camp responsibly and help prevent wildfires! 🌲🏕️

This contest will run all season long!
Bring your camera and capture fun, beautiful, and unique moments during your stay at the Rafter. We can't wait to see your favorite memories!

Photo Contest Rules:

Contest entries must be submitted by October 1, 2026.

Photos entered in previous contests are not eligible.

All entries must be uploaded to this Facebook thread.

A panel of five Rafter staff members will select the 1st Place winner.

The 2nd Place winner will be determined by the number of Facebook likes to your photo entered on this thread.

Limit one photo entry per person/family.

Photos must be taken at the Rafter.

Drone photos and videos are not eligible.

By entering, participants grant permission for their photos to be used on our website, social media, and in advertising.

Priority reservation booking for the 2027 season.
