Back-Achers Campsites

Back-Achers Campsites Campground and Cottage rentals We are small and very quiet campground located right on Seneca Lake.

We offer a inexpensive peaceful retreat to get away and enjoy all the offers of the finger lakes. Our small 25 Rv site and 15 Tent site campground is rustic with electric and water only.

We have a ton of firewood, no need to bring your own. Extremely reasonable.

We have a ton of firewood, no need to bring your own. Extremely reasonable.

Just a friendly reminder to buy it where you burn it!

How far is too far to move firewood? And what do you mean by “local” firewood?
When we say local firewood, we are referring to the closest convenient source of wood that you can find. That will likely be right on-site at the campground, down the street, or at a nearby convenience store. As a very general rule of thumb, 50 miles is too far, and 10 miles or less is best!

But why? Tree-killing insects and diseases can lurk in or on firewood. These insects and diseases can’t move far on their own, but when people move firewood, they can jump hundreds of miles. New infestations destroy our forests and can be costly to control.

But also, why would you want to lug firewood when your campground can conveniently deliver it to your site😉

Good news! The Severne Point Boat Launch is officially open to the public again.

Just in time for the warmer weather, the dock has been repositioned and is now available for public use. Despite delays caused by high water levels, the project was completed ahead of schedule thanks to a creative solution that brought in a local contractor, Kelly Custom Docks, to help get the job done a week earlier than anticipated.

Thanks to the collaboration between the DEC and Kelly Custom Docks, public access was restored sooner than expected. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. Get out there, enjoy the water, and make the most of the season!

Today we celebrate International Museum Day, a global reminder that stories, art, science, and history live far beyond our screens and into the spaces we preserve and protect: museums. Across New York State, museums invite us to step inside stories that shape who we are: from ancient history and world-class art to science, innovation, and play.

We encourage you to take this opportunity to explore beyond the campground and discover the incredible cultural destinations that make our state so unique. Whether you’re near the mountains, lakes, cities, or small towns, there’s always a museum within reach that can turn a simple outing into something unforgettable.

Here are just a few inspiring stops across New York State:
🏞️ Adirondack Experience, The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake — A deep dive into Adirondack life, wilderness, and heritage surrounded by one of the most scenic regions in the state.
🏛️ New York State Museum — Discover the deep and diverse history of New York, from natural landscapes to cultural heritage.
🎨 Buffalo AKG Art Museum — A vibrant collection of modern and contemporary art on the western edge of the state.
🧪 Corning Museum of Glass — Where art, science, and craftsmanship come together in dazzling glass innovation.
🎮 The Strong National Museum of Play — A joyful and interactive experience celebrating the history and power of play.
🤣 National Comedy Center — An interactive celebration of comedy, storytelling, and the performers who have shaped American humor across generations.

Museums are more than destinations, they’re invitations! To learn. To imagine. To connect the past with the present in ways that make every visit feel new.

So between campfires, hikes, and time outdoors, take a detour into discovery. New York’s stories are waiting everywhere you look.
