It may only be the beginning of September, and Oktoberfest is just around the corner… but December getaways are already on our minds! 🎄

Christmas in the Amana Colonies is truly something special. The twinkling lights, decorated shops, holiday traditions, and cozy atmosphere make December one of the most beautiful times of the year to visit.

And here at Rawson’s B&B, we love Christmas! Our historic home gets dressed for the season, breakfast is served surrounded by all the holiday warmth, and there’s just something magical about slowing down and enjoying a December getaway.

🎭 Dinner, a Show & a Weekend in Amana!

Looking for another reason to plan a September getaway to the Amana Colonies?

The Sunshine Boys by Neil Simon is coming to the Amana Performing Arts Center September 25–27!

This classic comedy follows two former vaudeville partners who haven’t spoken to each other in 12 years. When they’re asked to reunite for a television special, old memories, old disagreements—and plenty of laughs—come right along with them.

Make a weekend of it! Spend the day exploring the villages, enjoy dinner at one of our local restaurants, take in the show, and then head back to Rawson’s for a relaxing evening. And, of course, we’ll have a full breakfast waiting for you in the morning.

Yesterday’s Apfelfest called for an apple-filled breakfast this morning! 🍎

Apple French toast bake topped with warm cinnamon apples and a little crunch, served with fresh whipped cream, sausage, baked eggs, and fresh fruit.

A delicious way to keep the Apfelfest celebration going just a little longer here at Rawson’s B&B! 🍏🍎

A little creativity for our guests! 🎨🪨

We’ve added a Rock Painting Station here at Rawson’s B&B. During your stay, take a few minutes to decorate a rock with paint markers—get artistic, keep it simple, or just add your names and the date of your visit.

Each finished rock will become part of our new guest rock garden in 2027, creating a colorful collection of memories from the wonderful people who have stayed with us.

Paint markers and rocks are ready and waiting in the dining room. We can’t wait to see what everyone creates! ❤️

What a beautiful breakfast this morning! Our stuffed French toast is filled with a creamy almond cream cheese filling, then topped with warm maple cinnamon peaches and a little crunch.

Served alongside creamy Boursin eggs, sausage, and fresh fruit—a sweet and savory start to the day here at Rawson’s B&B.

Breakfast is definitely one of my favorite ways to spoil our guests. ❤️

Handworks Weekend is Here!

It’s going to be a busy weekend here at Rawson’s as guests arrive for Handworks 2026!

This unique event brings woodworking hand-tool makers and enthusiasts from across the country—and even around the world—to the Amana Colonies for two days devoted to the art of working with your hands.

No machines, dust and noise… instead, the sounds of hand planes, chisels and saws and the opportunity to meet the people who make and use these beautiful tools.

This year, 80 different vendors will gather in Main Amana at the Festhalle Barn, Greenwood Barn and Timber & Tools.

We always enjoy seeing guests come to Amana for events that fit so beautifully with the history and traditions of our villages. There really couldn’t be a more fitting setting for a celebration of old-fashioned craftsmanship.

Our rooms are ready, and now it’s time to get the kitchen ready for some hearty breakfasts before everyone heads out for the day!
