I got a pocket full of sunshine😎

What a difference an hour can make. The first part was taken at 6:30 and the second part was taken at 7:30❤️☀️❤️

The red-tailed hawk knew darn well that I was on the phone. It wouldn’t shut its trap (which is why I started recording) until I hung up🤣

Nothing like getting buzzed by hummingbirds fighting first thing in the morning.

I was pretty sure I saw Twain and some ducks coming around the point so I pulled out my handy dandy phone and hit record. Then almost got hit by two hummingbirds who were too busy arguing to notice me. (First part)

It was Twain and he even came to say hello. His leg is doing great and he doesn’t hate me for catching him and helping him. If you are new here, his wing has been like that for years due to a boat/jet ski run-in. He is one of our year-round residents who got discarded fishing line wrapped around his leg. My goose mom heart is so happy to see him doing so well already❤️ (Second part)

📢 Friendly reminder to please dispose of your fishing stuff safely. So many wildlife get tangled up in fishing line, hooks, etc., and don’t get help in time.

I can’t believe I was able to catch Twain - one of our resident geese - so that we could remove the fishing line wrapped around his leg. He was injured by a boat or jet ski years ago and can’t use one of his wings. I knew his only chance for survival was to catch him and remove the line.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to do this for weeks and today I knew I had to go for it. I was able to toss a blanket over him, grab him, and get him into a cabin.

My mom, who is a nurse, came and got it all off, examined his leg, and then we released him. He gave me a parting hiss and was on his way.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw two of the older bucks with Geoffrey and some of the herd. The second part I recorded from my kitchen window.
