CUSHMAN POND – WATER LEVEL LOWERING BEGINS THIS WEEKEND
Just a reminder to our neighbors: lowering the water level of Cushman Pond will begin this weekend.
As voted on at our Annual Meeting in May, the drawdown is being undertaken as an effort to control the overabundance of aquatic weeds in the pond.
We are hopeful that this method will be successful! The goal is to achieve a good drawdown followed by freezing temperatures, ideally without significant snowfall to insulate the ground. These conditions will help expose and freeze the weeds, hopefully reducing their growth next season.
The lower water level will also give pondfront property owners an opportunity to pull weeds and other debris from their shorelines.
Want to help? Anyone interested in helping clean up our shared areas at the beach and around the point is welcome to pull sticks, branches, and other debris from the pond.
Every little bit helps! Thanks to everyone for doing their part to keep Cushman Pond healthy and enjoyable for our community.
