They’re not beautiful by ANY stretch of the imagination, but they are sturdy AND functional! With the lake levels lower than usual, we needed to modify the way we accessed our floater because our previous “3-stepper” wasn’t cutting it.

And we are tearing down and rebuilding our entire dock in less than 120 days, so this needed to be something that could be discarded and no one get heartburn over it..

Aside from buying new 6-step stringers, everything else was repurposed wood and screws. Function over fashion!

We’ve been working very hard getting the deck ready for rental season. We removed all of the old vertical 2”x2” wood spindles (that no one wanted to stain). It was recently power washed and then stained with Sherwin Williams’ “Cabin Brown” Deck and Dock stain.

Thank you to our friends, Marlin and Becky McCauley, for helping us update the look with a horizontal cabling system that required 47,563 screws. Becky was a trooper and helped me plant flowers and veggies in the garden and then we tackled the assembly of two Polywood lounge chairs.

It was a gorgeous weekend and it was even better with friends!

Spring projects have officially sprung here at Camp! Thank goodness all the snow has melted (except for our gravel piles we need to spread for the driveway).

We did a little refresh on the entertainment center to soften up the space and THEN…

We cut out all of our old vertical 2”x2” deck posts to make way for power washing, deck staining, and a new cable railing system. Today was demo day!

Starting off 2026 with some much needed, but light tree work.

We removed two gigantic stumps from the backyard, one stump in the driveway (that people keep running over), and one small Crape Myrtle tree that keeps growing into the power lines. That stump grinder is remote controlled which was awesome to see first-hand. It also has a blade to level the sawdust once the job is over. How cool is that?

We LOVE it when our return guests are still super excited to stay at our place just as they have been over the past SIX years! Grateful to those who continue to grow with us as we continue to expand and elevate our vacation rental.

We couldn’t do it without our trusted housekeeping and landscaping teams. They help set us apart from standard rental listings and we are so blessed to have talented folks working behind the scenes!

Our annual sibling vacation 2025 is in the books. We were rollin’ all week long with lake life, but the ONE day we had rain, the family doubled down and wrote postcards on behalf of Delegate Chad Creen’s campaign. When your son is full throttle in election season, even the 4th grader helps out!

We took a break from postcards and then had a craft of decoupaging sea shells. That was a good distraction from the rain as well.

We also celebrated three birthdays this trip: a 50th, a 53rd, and a 25th. Life sure is fun when you get to spend it with the people you love the most.
