๐ปAs part of Folk College, two live folk music concerts are open to the public.๐ช
๐ชThe Friday, May 22 concert features three terrific acts: host band Simple Gifts offering world music and lots of fun; Ponyfolk, from Minnesota, offering indie/folk/rock, taking their inspiration from American and Scandinavian musical traditions; and Low Lily, offering a decidedly traditional sound reflecting both Appalachian and Celtic influences and featuring tight, haunting vocal harmonies supported by guitar and mandolin. ๐ป
๐ช The Saturday, May 23 concert features three terrific acts: Scott Ainslie, a brilliant guitarist and storyteller who drinks from the well of American blues, a modern blues legend; Midnight on the Water takes the listener on a mind-bending journey through melodies sourced from the folk-classical-big band-jazz-musical theater traditions and merged in barely imaginable ways; and the foursome of High Horse brings youthful energy, close harmonies, and a bluegrass- inspired sensibility to their music. ๐ปJoin us for a free contradance after the concert.
๐The concerts are at 7 p.m. at Halbritter Center for Performing Arts on the Juniata College campus in Huntingdon, PA. ๐ Tickets are available in advance at
https://huntingdoncountyarts.com/shop/, and at the door.
