STOP #1 — The Pinnacles, Berea
Twenty-some miles up the road from Snug Hollow, there’s a ridge that’ll stop you in your tracks.
The Pinnacles at Berea College Forest aren’t exactly a secret — but they still feel like one. You earn that view the old-fashioned way: one foot in front of the other, switchbacks through hardwood forest, the trail getting steeper right when you think you’ve found your rhythm. And then the trees open up, and there it is — the Bluegrass rolling out in front of you, the Ridge and Valley country stacking up behind, and the kind of quiet that only comes when you’re high enough above the noise. One of our favorite spots is the Bluegrass Outlook — gorgeous views and so worth a few extra minutes of hiking.
It’s about a 25 minute drive from the farm. You could be on the trail by 11, back down by 3, and back just in time for dinner delivered right to your cabin.
That’s a pretty good day, if you ask us.
