Dear Ocean House Community:

Ocean House closed September 9th, 2017, the day Monroe County issued a mandatory evacuation of the Florida Keys before Hurrican Irma hit Islamorada. This storm was devastating to our staff and, of course, our many guests for whom we took pride in serving. After many months of evaluation and reflection, we are happy to report that we have combined Ocean House with The Frisbee Group, our adjoining neighbor to the south.

The Frisbie Group plans to totally rebuild Ocean House to meet hurricane standards and integrate the hotel into its new development - The Islands of Islamorada. We don't have an exact timeframe on when Ocean House will be ready to accept guests but will report information as it becomes available.

Thank you for your patience during this very transitional period. We are looking forward to serving you once again in the very near future.

Hello everyone, just another update for you all from the Ocean House. We have been moving forward with the clean up process after the storm.

All major debris and broken fence line have been cleared off the property, planting beds have been cleaned out and standing trees have been trimmed up and treated. Our pool has been emptied of the sand and water and will be filled with clean water again.

The downstairs rooms and office have been gutted and ruined furniture has been tossed. We have had wonderful crews working very hard on the property to start to restore it to it's natural beauty.

We are hopeful to rebuild but have not made a set decision yet. We are waiting to receive re-build costs and go from there. Things are looking much better and we hope to re-open our doors soon!

Good Evening Everyone, I am writing to update you on the status of Ocean House. Residents of the upper keys were able to enter the keys on Tuesday so we have been to the property. We have electric and air to the rooms, which has been a help!

However, the property suffered major damage to our beautiful landscaping, beach area, and pool area. There are a lot of debris on property that we are working with a company to get cleared by the beginning of next week. Unfortunately, our building and office did take on about 4 feet of water. We will be closed until further notice. Right now we are working on getting crews in to clear out debris on the outside of the property and start to work on the four lower units. Thankfully, the four upper units were untouched.

We have been receiving a lot of calls and emails about your existing reservations. We are trying to get back to you as soon as possible. Our reservation system has been moved to a safe location and will be up and running within a few days. Then we can begin the process of canceling reservations and refunding deposits.

We sincerely appreciate all of the thoughts and well wishes during this tragic time. We have a great community here in the Florida Keys and the islands will be able to recover from this disaster.

We are still trying to work things out with the property and it may take us a while to get back on our feet. We will keep you all posted in the weeks to come. Thank you again for all your sincere thoughts and being understanding during this difficult time.

Update from the Ocean House: The storm has passed in the Florida Keys. All Employees are safe but we have no updates on our property as of now. We are not able to re enter the Keys until further notice. Once we get notice of how the property is holding up we will let everyone know. We have been receiving many phone calls and emails about existing reservations. Once we know how our property is doing we will update everyone on their reservations and if we will be able to accommodate you in the coming months. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Please keep Florida in your thoughts and prayers as we start to recover from Irma.

It was a very hard day packing up our beautiful resort and not knowing how much damage hurricane Irma will cause. We have prepared as best as we can and we are hoping for the best. All of Florida is in our thoughts and prayers as we go through this awful natural disaster. After the storm passes we will be notifying everyone of our status and where we need to go from there. Thank you everyone for all of the emails, messages, and phone calls we really appreciate your concerns. Let's hope we have a beautiful ocean house to come back to. 💙

Mandatory evacuation of the Florida keys begins tomorrow morning. Our resort will be closed starting tomorrow until further notice. Please stay safe everyone.

Monroe County will begin to order mandatory evacuations ahead of Hurricane Irma.
