Henry's Fork Lodge

Henry's Fork Lodge Idaho’s premier fishing lodge — perched above the legendary Henry’s Fork of the Snake River. Hospitality is the hallmark of the Lodge and its attentive staff.

Henry's Fork Lodge breaks the traditional mold of luxury fishing lodges and has been nationally honored for its distinguished architecture and interiors, outstanding cuisine and is especially renowned for its gracious service and informal sophistication. Like our customers, we maintain an appreciation for the famous Henry’s Fork of the Snake River, its wild fish and the surroundings of Yellowstone

National Park. The Henry's Fork of the Snake provides the ultimate fly fishing experience for the serious angler. It is one of the most technical and rewarding rivers you will ever enjoy. The proximity to diverse water and prolific hatches in the greater Yellowstone ecosystem, makes Henry's Fork Lodge the ideal fly fishing destination. In addition to first class lodging, service and amenities, you will always feel at home among our staff of fishing enthusiasts. We’ve designed our Lodge to be as enjoyable and comfortable for non-fishers and serious anglers alike. Our friendly staff can help make arrangements for you or your group to enjoy a diverse range of activities. Some of the world’s most magnificent natural attractions and recreational opportunities are at our doorstep. Hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, horseback riding, golf and tennis are close by. The Lodge is also an ideal headquarters for touring Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, taking day trips to Jackson Hole or Bozeman, or simply relaxing and reading a book on the deck overlooking the Henry's Fork. Heralded in the New York Times Bestseller, "1000 Places To See Before You Die", there simply is no better place to stay – especially if you’re interested in fooling some of the Henry’s Fork’s biggest, wariest trout.

His formula is simple to state and expensive to execute. Hire well, train relentlessly, feed people better than they expect and let one of the most famous rivers in the world do the marketing.

“This river, for fishing, is like Wimbledon is to tennis,” Ishiyama said.

Henry’s Fork Lodge in Island Park, Idaho, combines luxury hotel-level service with world-class fishing on the Henry’s Fork of the Snake River.

Dinner and a show. 🫎 Last night, this magnificent bull moose wandered into the river for an evening meal while our guests enjoyed theirs. One of those unforgettable moments, captured by our friend and neighbor, Charlie Lansche, that reminds us why this place is so special.

Brown Drakes are hatching now and climbing the walls of the Lodge!   #10 mayfies that will alight on the river tonight after mating and laying their eggs.  A natural spectacle and a great dry fly opportunity upstream and behind the Lodge itself!

#10 green drakes are on the lower river now and will also be hatching near the Lodge in the next few weeks, starting the summer-long sequence of hatches that make the Henry’s Fork so famous for dry fly fishing.

We still have availability during the coming months, so contact us for dates with our upcoming hatches!

Dave “Dutch” Schultz, man about town in Island Park and West Yellowstone, passed away yesterday in his off-season home in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Schultz, as most of us called him, was a man of many talents. He was a master woodworker who made the elegant wooden fly boxes he sold at the Lodge and Blue Ribbon Flies in West Yellowstone.

He learned fine woodworking at a prominent fine furniture making program on the north coast of California and applied
it to making both furniture and his finely-made and treasured “Dutch” fly boxes. We at the Lodge were honored to be one of
only two places who sold his renowned fly boxes. Schultz was also a master ski tuner and outstanding skier in his winter quarters in Steamboat Springs and in high demand to tune skis for the local hot shots.

Most of us who knew Dave well recognized him as a master angler on the Ranch waters in Harriman Park. He and his cronies like Steve Mate and Dom Traverso were highly knowledgeable and talented anglers who spent countless days over decades on the Railroad Ranch waters, knew the insect hatches, tied their unique flies to match, mastered the casting and presentation approaches, and were, above all, patient, persistent and highly observant. Schultz was among the unsung true masters of The Ranch. When not fishing he could be seen holding forth in the Grubstake, dispensing his wit and wisdom to all comers.

Dave and his humor will be missed by all of us who knew him over the decades he spent in Island Park and on the river.

We offer our condolences to Bev Friesen, his longtime partner and devoted supporter.
