🐴🏡 From Barn Raising to Home Sweet Home!
Another Chapter in the Black Feather Farm Equine Journey
A few months ago, we were looking at a hillside filled with brush, uneven ground, and a vision for the future of Base Camp Alpha's Equine Resiliency Program.
Today, that vision has become a reality—with three very happy residents!
Thanks to the generosity of our community, dedicated volunteers, and countless hours of hard work, our equine facilities have reached another major milestone!
🐴 Master Chief's House is Complete!
Chief now has his own spacious turnout shelter, providing comfort, protection, and plenty of room to relax. Judging by how well he's settled in, we'd say he approves!
🫏 Introducing "The Henry House"
As Taco and Gunny settled into their new home, we decided the little guys deserved a space of their own!
Their new shelter and dedicated paddock are affectionately named The Henry House, honoring Chris and Janet Henry, whose generosity and trust brought these three wonderful animals into our lives.
Chris and Janet gave us far more than a horse and two miniature donkeys. They helped make an entirely new chapter of our mission possible. This little building will serve as a lasting tribute to their kindness.
🔨 Look What We've Built Together!
✅ Two completed animal shelters
✅ Two dedicated paddock areas
✅ Two established pastures for rotational grazing
✅ A completed tack room for feed and equipment
✅ Improved fencing, gates, drainage, and access
From clearing brush and moving tons of earth to setting fence posts and raising walls, what started as a community barn raising has become a home for our boys.
And none of this happened alone.
To every volunteer who gave their time, every supporter who donated materials, and everyone who believed in this vision—THANK YOU!
But beyond the buildings and improvements lies the real purpose of this project.
These facilities are being developed to create meaningful opportunities for veterans, first responders, and their families to build trust, strengthen resilience, and find moments of peace through connections with horses and the outdoors.
Master Chief, Taco, and Gunny have found their new home.
And in time, we hope they'll help others find a little peace here, too.
We're incredibly grateful for how far we've come, excited about what lies ahead, and proud of the community that made it possible.
Together, we didn't just raise a barn. We raised hope. ❤️🇺🇸
