There are just two weeks left until voting closes and every vote means the world to us. Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel has been nominated for Orchid People’s Choice Award in the categories of Interior Design, Public Architecture, Historic Preservation and Adaptation and Urban Design.

As the owner and designer, (along with ) this is a really big deal for me personally. I am a native San Diegan and have watched the recipients of Orchid Awards since I was a teenager.

In college at the I envisioned designing something in my hometown that would earn the recognition one day of my peers.

Corbin and I have poured every bit of what we have into the design and architectural details of this hotel and town and continue to do so. We designed and hand drafted every single detail that you see at the hotel, to scale. Floor plans, elevations, sections and perspectives.

We spent 2 years sourcing items from all over the world to create a place with true authenticity and intention. With the support and knowledge of our business partner and mastermind Jeff Osborne, we are creating something truly special that is unlike anyplace else.

I’ve shared some before and after photos here to see how far we’ve come.

The 4th Annual Graveyard Boogie returns to Jacumba Hot Springs for Gothic Prom.

Saturday, October 31st
Doors 8PM • Begins 8:30PM

Begin the evening at Long Shadow. Reserve your table for dinner before the doors to Gothic Prom open.

Arrive in style and wear your darkest best. Be greeted with a high desert elixir and have your portrait taken inside our vintage Lincoln limousine, framed by the hotel’s 500-year-old doorway.

Boogie into the night to ghoulish vinyl DJ sets from 9–11PM. Enter our Halloween Costume Contest and tempt fate for prizes including a hotel stay and more.

As the witching hour approaches, the crown awaits. Nominations for Gothic Prom Queen + King follow the costume contest, with our dark royalty crowned before the clock strikes midnight on the Exotic Desert Hideaway Bar patio.

Throughout the night, we will draw names from our Halloween raffle for hotel stays, membership passes, and other offerings from beyond.

DRESS CODE: YOUR GOTHIC BEST

Mandatory attire. Traditional goth, romantic goth, ’80s punk, and dark formalwear. Black velvet, lace, corsetry, and dark jewel tones encouraged.

We are pleased to offer Happy’s Hour All Day Tuesday & 3-5PM Monday, Wednesday through Friday inside the Exotic Desert Hideaway Bar & Bar Patio.

Named after Happy Sharpe, an old trapper, who was known as The Old Man of the Mountain here in Jacumba in the 30s and 40s.

He built his museum out of local rock and wood along Old Highway 80. It can still be seen today. 

Happy always had a pot of his famous beans for travelers and guests and was the founder of the Ancient Order of Snake Snackers.
