The Brassicas are your friend in the cool season.

For just a couple dollars, you can get enough seed to cover at least a hundred square feet.

You’ll have fresh greens every morning for months. They’re an excellent cover crop. Every time you thin a patch, you aerate the soil and add green mulch. I’m planting summer crops right in the middle of them and they’ll grow in as the brassicas bolt and dry up. They should reseed themselves.

Next step is to get a fridge so I can sell some to the mercantile.

This is Clover. Clover hadn’t been able to stand on her own for almost a week. Starting with molasses on the tip of my pinky, I’ve been able to get her back on track. I had brought her outside to warm up in the morning sunshine, and this happened. Morning sunshine has that same effect on me.

Clover’s mom is still figuring her job out. It’s her first time, so I’ll give her a break. Clover is making progress every day. When she’s bouncing around again, I’ll see if I can find her a home as a pet. She already wants to follow me everywhere.
