Remember the Cookie Race? 🍪

Shelbie (pictured above) recently shared this throwback photo with us:

“This is me during the Cookie Race circa 2001-2002. My family and I go to Smuggs every year, and I have even worked for SNSC for a season. I now live out west and coach alpine skiing here, but Smugglers’ Notch will always be my favorite mountain!”

Ski and snowboard movie season is upon us!

While we might not be able to ski and ride just yet, we are able to get STOKED about skiing and riding (very soon). The best way to do this is to attend the Backcountry Magazine Barn Bash at the Cambridge VT Community Center on Friday November 6th!

If you’ve never been to the Barn Bash, there’s a lot of awesomeness beyond the movies:

Live music
A huge raffle (tons of ski and snowboard gear and a BrewFest Weekend Smuggs getaway)
Dinner and a drink included with your ticket
A food drive for the Cambridge Food Shelf (every item you bring earns you a raffle ticket!)
AND All proceeds benefit the Cambridge Area Rotary Winter Wellness Days program which gives local kids the chance to ski and ride for free, regardless of income

Tonight and tomorrow is the Cambridge Area Rotary Winter Sports Sale!

Not only is this an opportunity to grab some gear at great prices, it’s also an opportunity to support the Winter Wellness Program!

If you’re not familiar, this program sends all 4th, 5th, and 6th grade Cambridge Elementary School students up to the mountain for a week in the winter to ski, ride, and snowshoe.

If you have any gear that you’d like to consign you can drop it off at the Cambridge Community Center from 4-7pm today.

We’re excited to get our butts back in these chairs

But in the meantime we’re soaking up the end of foliage and keeping our eye on the weather, waiting for our first snow.

Shots for breakfast!

(Vermont maple syrup shots to be specific) It isn’t enough to just see the local trees during foliage, you’ve got to TASTE them to get the full experience.

The Green Mountain Eatery has you covered with Cloud Stack Pancakes and French Toast Sticks as your vehicles for Vermont maple syrup (or you can just drink it straight like the locals). The Eatery is serving other breakfast favorites including Egg Sandos and Smoked Salmon Bagels AND it’s now open for lunch - everyday of the week, 8am-2pm!
