Labor Day was declared a national holiday in 1894 - the same year the YMCA of Mauch Chunk opened its doors to the community! This holiday was to honor and recognize the contributions and sacrifices of the working people and their difficult fight for fair wages, reasonable hours, and safe working conditions.

Today, Labor Day is more than the unofficial end of summer. It’s a reminder to appreciate the people whose hard work keeps our businesses, communities, and country moving forward.

This Labor Day, we celebrate you—the workers who make it all happen. ❤️
