Apparently, we have a ghost.
Just in time for Halloween, the Juneau Empire included Silverbow Inn on its list of Alaska’s haunted places.
According to local lore, our 1907 building is home to a former baker who apparently never quite finished his shift. We call him Gus.
Staff, guests and visitors have reported unexplained footsteps, faint music, things appearing where they weren’t before, and the occasional shadow upstairs.
We can’t exactly confirm any of this.
But we can confirm that our building is more than a century old, has a few stories of its own, and occasionally seems to have a little extra personality.
So if you happen to sense a presence during your stay this fall…
…it might just be the old baker checking on things.
Or perhaps he’s simply making sure breakfast is on schedule.
Happy Halloween from Silverbow
