The last look always hits hardest.

The Big Island doesn't let go easy.

You probably didn't come to Kona expecting a forest like this.

Neither did we, honestly.

A short drive up from the coast and the whole island shifts — cooler air, cathedral roots, rainbow eucalyptus painted by the rain. It's the kind of place that makes you slow down without being asked.

We love pointing guests toward the coast. But this? This is the one we don't want you to miss.

Honest question: when did you last stand somewhere that felt like another planet?

Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park is about two hours from Kona — and it's worth every minute of that drive. The Volcanoes Unveiled Tour takes you through the whole thing: craters you can walk into, lava flows from different eras, native 'ōhi'a lehua in bloom, and yes, the occasional wild pig wandering across the lava field like he owns the place.

This is the Big Island doing what it does best — showing you something you genuinely didn't expect.

We'll help you get there. The park does the rest.

Somewhere between the surface and the reef, you remember what quiet feels like.

Sail Kona with Kohala Blue. Ask us how.

We know what you're thinking when you walk into a hotel room for the first time. You do a lap. You check the bed. You open the balcony door.

We built Pacific 19 for that moment.

Premium linens worth touching twice. A welcome kit with a dry bag and local snacks. A JBL speaker because the vibe matters. And a balcony that faces the Pacific, just far enough to remind you why you came.

Rinse off. Rest up. Kona is right outside.

A squeeze bottle, a corn tortilla, and 0.7 miles from your room.

Oceans Street Tacos. Walk, don't drive.

Most visitors stay on the sunny side of the island. We get it, Kona is hard to leave.

But if you've got a free day and a full tank, take the Hamakua Coast north. Follow the sign for Laupahoehoe Point and drive all the way.

You'll find lava benches, towering surf, a harbor built from stone, and a banyan tree that's been standing longer than any hotel on this island.

It's about an hour from Pacific 19. Worth every minute.

If you're staying with us, Kailua Pier is a three-minute walk from your door. And on any given morning, you'll see outrigger canoes heading out into open water.

This isn't a tourist activity, it's how people here have moved across the ocean for generations. Transportation, fishing, racing. A living tradition.

We think the best way to understand a place is to get in the water with it. Ask us about paddling experiences before you arrive.
