We’re heartbroken by the damage in Nā‘ālehu, especially to two places we love, Punaluʻu Bake Shop and Hana Hou Restaurant. The south end of the island has always meant so much to us and seeing the community hurting has been difficult.

We’re supporting the 365 Community Fund as they help Nā‘ālehu recover, and we want to share that we personally trust the organizers, Julie and Eric. They’re not just community leaders — they’re our realtors who helped us find our oceanfront condo, and we know firsthand how deeply they care about the people and places of this island.

We’re also incredibly grateful that the Kailua Kona area remains largely untouched, even as everyone continues to brace for the next storm. Moments like this remind us how strong and connected our island community truly is.

As you know we added a new split AC system to Oceanfront 201 Kona Bali Kai. Managing a project like this from 5,000 miles away was a challenge, but our team came through for us between renters and got the job done. Thank you to Scott Longwith with Aloha Air Inc, Alan Okamoto (electrician), and Lancer Keeling (drywall repairs) for getting the job done! Here are some pictures of the process.

As many of you know, Kim and I have been traveling to Hawaii ever since our honeymoon there in 1993. Over the years, the islands have become a truly special place for our family — a spot filled with memories of sunsets, adventures, and countless trips shared with our sons, Ryan and Kevin, who have grown to love the Big Island just as much as we do.
This April, we finally took the plunge and purchased our own oceanfront condo on the Big Island.
We’re excited to share that it’s now available as a short‑term vacation rental, and we’d love for you to check it out (and maybe even book a stay).
