Everyone plans the sendoff. Nobody plans the morning after. The couple leaving tonight won't see an airport for two more days — sleep, a long breakfast, the gift boxes, then the flight. Fly out at dawn after your own wedding and you'll pay peak fares to nap through the first day of your honeymoon in seat 23B. I've seen it in Santorini. I've seen it in Duluth. The fix is the same: a two-night buffer.

Bending wood around a curve this long is mostly patience: dry-fit, glue, clamp, wait, repeat. The finished photos never show the sawdust, but this is where the good rooms come from.

Late May, and the whole valley has greened up at once.

The lawn runs in clean stripes out to the white fence line, and past it the fields open up toward the mountains under a sky full of slow-moving cloud. A timber arbor stands at the edge of the grass, waiting on whatever you've got planned. Mid-morning out here is quiet in the best way — room to breathe, a long view in every direction, and the kind of light that doesn't need any help. This is what your guests see when they turn around.
