Be sure to schedule a visit to Ausable Chasm during your stay! Breathtaking beauty just a short drive from our B&B.

This summer in New York, you can tube the Ausable River through the incredible Ausable Chasm as sandstone gorge walls tower hundreds of feet above you on both sides! Float tours are expected to open July 4, 2026, and the trip starts at Table Rock, a wide, flat rock ledge along the river where guides get you set up before you step into the water and begin your float. From there, you drift into the Grand Flume, the narrowest and deepest part of the chasm. Along the way, you’ll pass rock formations like the Sentry Box and Broken Needle, ride through small rapids, and glide by the swirling Whirlpool Basin. Helmets and life vests are provided, and the ride ends at a landing where you can hike back or take a trolley. Tubing is open to ages 8 and up, with height rules based on river levels, and you must wear secure footwear. Arrive early, as wait times often grow after 11 AM. Known as the “Grand Canyon of the Adirondacks,” this gorge was carved by the river over thousands of years. Sheer cliffs, waterfalls, and narrow passages make it one of the most dramatic natural spots in the Northeast.

"We've tried to stay here for 17 years and we're finally here!" I thought I must surely be misunderstanding the woman who had just come through my door, but she wasn't kidding! Apparently, this couple tends to book last minute, and every time they came to Keene Valley, we were fully booked.

If you've "always wanted to stay at the Snow Goose," let me give you the inside scoop on Summer 2025:

July weekends - already gone
August weekends - just a room here and there
September - starting to book up (this is our favorite month in the ADK's!)
October - one room open for the first weekend and two left for Columbus Day weekend (both fall in foliage season!)

The moral of this story is ... plan ahead so you don't have to wait 17 years to have The Snow Goose experience!

And if you're able to come during the week, you'll find fewer crowds, lower rates, and more available rooms!

"We've tried to stay at The Snow Goose for 17 years!" Our guests came in the door with big smiles! "We finally got in!"

"WHAT? Really??" We couldn't believe it! Then they explained that they usually make their travel plans at the last minute. Ahhh ... now it makes sense!

The Snow Goose only has THREE guest rooms which is part of our charm! More peace and privacy means you can truly unwind in this woodland sanctuary.

BUT ... it also means that you need to plan ahead! We're already sold out for a few summer weekends, but it's not too late to find one that works for you. Weekdays are also a great option for retirees, remote workers, or a personal retreat. (Famous authors always welcome!)
