🌲🪵 Going through some of my grandfather’s carvings and deciding which special pieces will find a home at Huckleberry Cove Ketchikan. ❤️

Our dream is to fill this cozy Alaskan beachfront getaway with beautiful Alaskan art, meaningful pieces of history, and books that tell the stories of this incredible place.

Because in Alaska, the weather doesn’t always cooperate! 🌧️ And if a rainy day has you wanting to stay in, we want you to be able to curl up with a good book, admire the local art, and still feel immersed in the true Alaskan experience.

We want Huckleberry Cove to be more than just a place to stay. We want it to be a place to slow down, feel connected to Alaska, and make memories that last long after you leave. 🐻🌊

More little touches coming together as we bring this dream to life! 💙

Counting down the minutes until I can sit on that deck and watch the Eagles 🦅 and whales. 🐳

Side note: Building a dream when you can't be there is difficult, but luckily, I've got an amazing builder who never gets annoyed when I call panicking about colors, window sizes, or closet space. Well maybe he gets annoyed, but he doesn't tell me. 😜

We are cycling across the US for our 40th Anniversary. 🚴🚴 So I've had LOTS of time to think and plan how I want to decorate Huckleberry Cove.

One thing I knew I wanted to do was hang up this picture of my grandmother, circa 1939, in Sunshine AK, along with a pair of wooden snowshoes. Then I found out that Michigan is famous for traditional snowshoe manufacturing. So I started to pop into antique stores along our route.

Hit the jackpot today! The lovely owner is going to make sure they get shipped up to Alaska for me.
