It’s happening!! 🙌🏻

Workers spotted today loading large items into the new Beach House restaurant at the Mana Kai Resort (former Five Palms restaurant) including what appeared to be a kitchen prep station and what looked like cases of alcohol being stored in the former yoga studio downstairs. Clearly they are getting closer to opening here! We will keep you posted about any new developments. 🤙

Tried a new cafe across from the Cove. The Frontroom in Kihei has a cool vibe with green velvet booths and an ocean view. We enjoyed a late lunch, but I can see this being a favorite spot for a latte and croissant after an early morning of surfing. They make their focaccia bread for the sandwiches in house and have healthy bowls and salads. The steak on my sandwich was tender and tasty. The sandwiches are huge (can easily be split) and a little heavy on the ratio of bread. Overall, a great experience and was a perfect spot to linger with friends while waiting out the rain yesterday.

The lanai off the master bedroom is continuing to fill in nicely. Did some clean up, added some snail bait because something was munching on my agaves, and added some air plants I bought off Marketplace in Haiku to the ladder. She said they will turn more red in the heat so guessing our Kihei sun will change them quickly. Excited to return in a few months to see how everything is going!

If you are upcountry, highly recommend T. Komoda Store & Bakery in Makawao for their donut holes on a stick, sweet bread, cinnamon rolls, malasadas and other sweets. Get there early for the best selection. Their cinnamon roll is right up there with my other favorites at Kihei Caffe, Cinnamon Roll Place and Papi’s Ohana. What is your favorite pastry on the island? 🍩☕️

Update on the nearby sinkhole. Here now and just a minor inconvenience detouring around it. Not a big deal.

Love eating at Cafe O’lei at Mill House for this reason! Go an hour before your reservation, which I recommend to be about an hour before sunset.
