SAGE PARACON USA SPEAKER - TIM SHAW
Tim Shaw has dedicated his life to exploring the enigmatic realms of the paranormal and metaphysical. Growing up in the picturesque landscapes of Western New York State, Tim's fascination with the mystical was deeply influenced by his family connections to the Lily Dale Spiritualist Assembly, a renowned community where spirituality and mysticism flourished. This duality of being raised in both Roman Catholic and Spiritualist traditions has provided Tim with profound insights into the miraculous events and strange phenomena that interact with our everyday existence.
As a medium, Tim has diligently honed his craft through extensive training from esteemed institutions such as the National Spiritualist Association of Churches, The Omega Institute, and The Priesthood of Melchizadek, as well as under the tutorage of many influential instructors. His journey as an energy healer is marked by the completion of the Advanced Reiki Training (ART) methodology and the attainment of the Master/Teacher Level in Usui Reiki. Alongside his certifications in Spiritualist Healing, he is actively pursuing studies to become a Life Coach, further expanding his toolkit in aiding others. Tim's intellectual curiosities have also led him to explore the rich traditions of Modern Witchcraft, New Orleans Voodoo, and Appalachian Hoodoo.
An avid collector at heart, Tim has amassed an impressive collection of historical, paranormal, spiritual, and occult artefacts from across the globe. His diverse assortment includes haunted dolls, intricate African effigies, Victorian mourning hair art, spirit trumpets, over 80 spirit boards, and several poignant reminders of history in the form of Civil War antiques.
Beyond his collecting, Tim is also an accomplished author, engaging lecturer, and dynamic media personality. His literary works include captivating titles such as "Ghosts of Buffalo: Mysteries, Murder, and Mayhem in the Nickel City", "The Dogma of...ME", "The C2D1 Haunting", and "Rev. Zombie's Book of Divination". He has collaborated on projects like "Haunted Rochester" and contributed to notable anthologies, including Marla Brooks' "Animal Spells and Magick" and Dark Moon Press's "Lost Whispers: A Collective Allegory of Haunted America". He also lent his photographic expertise to titles like "Haunted Prisons" and "Haunted Asylums."
Tim’s television expertise has made him a sought-after consultant and guest in various films and television programs. His contributions have been featured on shows like the Discovery Channel's "Ghost Lab", SyFy's "Ghost Hunters", Spike's "Ghost Ops", and Destination America's "Paranormal Lockdown". He has shared his haunting experiences at the notorious Hinsdale House on The Travel Channel's "America's Most Terrifying Places", and revisited the Bergen House in subsequent episodes. His captivating narratives have also appeared in notable productions such as "A Haunting" on the Travel Channel, as well as projects from Core Productions and Deftone Pictures. Most recently, Tim has been featured in "A Haunting: Return to the Bergen House", "The Adams Street Haunting" episode on Steve Shippy's "Haunted Saginaw" Series, and Nick Groff's "Death Walker" series.
In the realm of radio and podcasting, Tim has produced and participated in numerous projects, including CBS' "The Psychic's Next Door", "Curiosity Radio", and the popular online show "The Black Cat Lounge". In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, he revitalized "The Black Cat Lounge" in a vodcast format, reaching out to house-bound paranormal enthusiasts every Wednesday via Facebook Live.
Tim has also been actively volunteering his expertise in media production at Lockport Community TV. He has contributed his skills behind the scenes for shows like "Within These Walls" on the VIDI Space Network.
His interests extend well beyond the paranormal, encompassing urban exploration, delving into urban legends, cryptozoology, seeking out unusual and haunted objects, and backwoods trekking. He pursues photography, flintknapping (stone tool making), recreating historical leatherwork, metal detecting, and historical reenacting, particularly the Grand Army of the Republic, the Civil War, and French & Indian War eras. Cooking also holds a cherished place in his diverse range of hobbies.
In 2017, Tim retired after 34 and a half years with the Town of Cheektowaga Highway Department. For Tim, retirement is merely a new chapter in an ongoing adventure, filled with opportunities for discovery and exploration.
