So How Do We Actually Do This?
Over the past few weeks, I have shared a lot of stories.
How we found Belle Grove.
The 412 days it took to open the doors.
The people who helped build it.
The lessons it taught me.
Why I believe this place deserves a future.
But eventually every dream reaches a point where it has to answer a practical question.
How?
How do you take something that feels almost impossible and turn it into reality?
The answer is surprisingly simple.
You create a plan.
Then you take the first step.
The Land of Promise Project is not about one person writing a large check.
It is not about finding a wealthy benefactor to save the day.
And it is not about a single fundraising event.
It is about building a community of people who believe that Belle Grove is worth preserving.
Some people will contribute financially.
Some people will share the story.
Some people will volunteer their time and talents.
Some people will introduce us to people who can help.
Others will simply follow the journey and encourage us when the road becomes difficult.
Every one of those roles matters.
Because preserving Belle Grove is not just a financial challenge.
It is a community challenge.
The good news is that we are not starting from scratch.
We already have a community.
Over the past fourteen years, thousands of people have walked through these doors.
Guests have stayed in our rooms.
Visitors have attended tours and events.
Researchers have helped uncover stories.
Friends have shared our posts and introduced others to Belle Grove.
What we are doing now is bringing those people together around a common purpose.
The purpose is simple:
To secure the future of Belle Grove.
Over the coming months, I will be sharing more details about how the project will work, the role of the non-profit, the fundraising strategy, and the milestones we hope to achieve.
I will also share the challenges.
Because there will be challenges.
There always are.
But if the last fourteen years have taught me anything, it is that difficult things become possible when enough people decide they are worth doing.
I don't expect everyone reading this to have all the answers.
Truthfully, neither do I.
What I do know is that the opportunity is real.
The need is real.
And the possibility is real.
That is enough for me to take the next step.
My hope is that you will take it with me.
