Sending sunny vibes your way this Holiday weekend! Hoping you all have a safe and festive 4th of July, celebrating your freedoms in the ways that bring you the most joy!
Speaking of joy, we are filled to the brim knowing our Cottage has guests during the peak bloom of our sunflower patch. We always try to time them up for 4th of July weekend & these ladies are opening up wide right on cue.
At the Kiska Cottage, we not only take pride in the quality accommodations inside our rental space, but we also take pride in cultivating a natural ecosystem around the Kiska Cottage, as well. Because while some vacation rentals only focus on the inside, we know that full satisfaction comes from the whole experience.
We have spent the last 5 years installing fruit trees & vines, flowering plants & shrubs as well as a pollinator patch to encourage life to thrive here. We are proud of the abundant bird, lizard & toad species that can be found on our small piece of land, because when all life is encouraged to thrive in a space, that's exactly what it does. And when life thrives around you, joy comes 1st nature.

The Kiska Cottage is an "Old Florida" beach cottage with recent updates including a major overhaul in the kitchen.
Updates include a whole house water filtration system plus a secondary filter for water and ice from the fridge, a functional vent fan above the range, and a full size fridge and dishwasher. Besides all of the major appliances, we also supply a Keurig, a kettle for tea, a blender and a toaster for our guests.
In addition to thoughtful appliances, this cozy home also boasts over 4ft of usable hard surface countertops, making prepping for days at the beach or meals in the cottage a breeze. You also notice the open shelving up top keeps everything easy to find as soon as you arrive.
Other features include soft close drawers and cabinets, pull out drawers for cookware, a cabinet for the trash can to keep it out of sight, and even the option of an organic composting bin to collect your organic waste to be used in the owner's personal garden.
This kitchen was designed to function like a fully equipped home, because that's exactly what it is.
If you don't mind the substandard kitchenette of hotel rooms, we admit, we probably aren't your cup of tea. But if you prefer room to spread out, entertain yourself, and make the most out of the accommodations you choose for vacation, the Kiska Cottage may be the place for your next beach vacation.

Some vacation rentals focus on the number of folks they can squeeze into their rental. We prefer to focus on the amount of comfort we can squeeze in for your vacation.
That's why both bedrooms have been equipped with brand new, queen sized gel foam mattresses in May of this year, both beds have nightstands, lamps and charging options on either side, and each bedroom comes with it's own tv and sitting spaces.
It's not that we can't fit more beds in the home, it's that we care more about making sure our cozy space leaves you plenty of room to spread out and enjoy yourself while you are here. Because we all know there isn't much more stressful than sharing a tight space with too many people.

Waves have started arriving ahead of possibly rainy weather this weekend. A reminder to always check the beach flags before entering the water. Beach flags are posted at most major beach access points and are updated daily. We do suspect they will be upgraded to double red flags at some point this weekend, which means the water would be closed to swimmers at that time. For now (Friday a.m.) single red flags are flying and extreme caution is advised in the water.

Whether it's stories over dinner time, smiles during board games, or planning tomorrow's beach days activities, memories are made around the table.
After all, activities done around a table encourages eye contact, which in turn, encourages deeper connections with the folks you're with. We also know that deeper connections increase the likelihood of long-term memories being made, which is just the kind of memories we hope you take home with after your stay in the Kiska Cottage.
So whether you like to cook most of your meals in house (fully functional kitchen provided), you enjoy a good game night (several board games + poker chips provided), or you like to fully plan your beach days by getting the whole group in to help decide activities (welcome binder with area suggestions provided) we feel confident we've got space for you to do it with comfort.
Because while some vacation rentals operate by trying to fit the most number of folks into the guest count, we operate by trying to fit the most amount of comfort in for our guests. This means fewer but bigger bed options (two queens - no bunk beds), it means a comfortable couch instead of a sleeper sofa, and it means a full size dinner table that can seat 8 reserved just for your party of 4.

We know that the value in your beach day has a lot to do with how much room on the beach you have and how much of the water you can see. And while some areas of PCB have high rise condos and rows of beach chairs, our beach access looks like little more like this.

Welcome to the West End of PCB, where "Old Florida" meets "East Rosemary". The West End has always been known for it's quieter beaches but it's ease of access and proximity to both PCB and 30A areas is causing it's popularity to soar in recent years.

Are you an early morning riser who likes a nice cozy spot to curl up with a little peace and quiet in the morning? The Kiska Cottage has a few spaces for that.
The living room greets the morning with large East facing windows. The loveseat looks out over the front yard, taking in the sunlight, while the Keurig keeps the coffee flowing until you are ready to wake the rest of the family for your vacation day.
If listening to the birds sing and smelling the salty air is more your preference, the outdoor patio in the 2nd photo may be more your style. Curl up on the outdoor couch and watch the birds and squirrels waking up for their morning meals along our fence and garden items in the front yard.
If sleeping late is more your style, we encourage you to keep the blinds closed and sleep to your heart's content. The day, the coffee and the cozy sitting spaces will all still be there to greet you when you are ready.

The one thing you shouldn't have to decide on is which beach to visit. We all know not all beaches are created equal, and we think our town slogan says it all, "World's Most Beautiful Beaches".
But even the beaches of Panama City Beach are not all created equal. Some have high rise condos and are rows deep with people at the beach. Others are located slightly outside the main hub of town where the high rise condos fade away. As you can imagine, as the density of people goes down, so does the density of people on the beaches.
The Kiska Cottage is located in a low density neighborhood, and there is a dedicated beach access right at the end of our road. A short walk from the cottage and you arrive at a wooden beach access helping you down through the sand dunes with three sets of stairs. A grass lined path leads you to to open sand, and plenty of room for you to enjoy your beach day.

Bayou Bills 1 mile away
Carousel market 2.5 miles away
Camp Helen State Park / Lake Powell 3 miles away
30Avenue 4 miles away
Pier park 7 miles away
St Andrews State Park and ECP International Airport are both approximately 18 miles away.
So while being away from the hub of town helps with less people, less traffic and less congestion, it also gives you access to quieter beaches, other areas of interest like 30A and it still keeps you within easy access of the things you have grown to love about our town.
So leave your problems behind and choose the Kiska Cottage for your next beach getaway, where your biggest problem will be figuring out how to spend your carefree beach days.

When everyone is trying to get ready for dinner at once, the functionality of the bathroom matters.

At the Kiska Cottage, we know that half the battle of getting everyone ready is getting them showered in a timely manner. That's why we've upgraded the entire Cottage to an on-demand water heater. Need to take 4 showers back-to-back? No problem! Our tankless heater guarantees an endless supply of hot water, no matter how many showers you need in a row.

In addition to endless hot water, the stand-up shower also features a dual component shower head with a rainfall and hand-held wand option. An exhaust fan helps vent out extra moisture from the room and inside the vanity cabinet you'll find an array of 'just in case you forgot' items, including a hair dryer.
Bathrooms aren't much fun to talk about, but knowing they'll provide the functionality to help your travel group get ready faster means knowing you'll spend more time on vacation and less time waiting on folks to get ready for it.
