THE BUTTERFLY GARDEN
Whenever I do attend EPCOT’S Flower and Garden Festival, I always make a point of spending time in the butterfly garden.

“The spiritual meaning of butterflies deeply resonates with the Christian belief in heaven and the ascension of the spirit. On the whole, butterflies are usually interpreted as representing creativity, rebirth, joy, transformation, nature, beauty, and growth.” ~ worldbirds.com

REUNION GOLF
I had an opportunity to play the Watson course down the road at Reunion last week. Historically, Reunion restricted play to resort guests, members, and guests staying in approved rental programs. The resort currently states that resort guests and preferred rental guests are eligible to play the three courses.

HOWEVER, Reunion periodically releases tee times through GolfNow promotions that allow non-resort guests to play, depending on season and availability.

Reunion does not publish a fixed golf rate because, as is true with most of the golf courses, pricing varies by season, day, and demand.

If you’re staying in Windsor Hills at the Villa, here are some nearby higher-rated courses based on convenient location, course conditions, scenery, and overall enjoyment. You may even get lucky and score some reduced rates. ⛳️

TUCK IT AWAY - A REMINDER
Our deck furniture was purchased in 2012. Palm Casual, from whom we purchased the furniture, offers complimentary repairs like sling tightening and stuffing for the lifetime of their product, which is very functional and high quality. Their service has helped us keep the furniture in exceptional condition over the years. 

It is also thanks to YOUR HELP that our furniture has held up remarkably well. It is only now, 14 years later, we felt the need to replace the lounger cushions. (If you were here over the past couple months, you probably wouldn’t have thought they even needed replacing.)

It is because you are diligent in keeping the furniture under the protection of the lanai when not in use, that the furniture and stuffed cushions have held up so well and that you have beautiful furniture to use during your stay.

Moving the furniture out onto the open lanai area ONLY WHEN YOU INTEND TO USE IT  and RETURNING IT UNDER COVER ensures the furniture/cushions are protected from the summer rains and potential mold.

I wanted to share this reminder with you as we enter the “rainy season” in Florida where you can bet it’s going to rain briefly (and sometimes very hard ) at some point every day.

JUNE 1 MARKS THE BEGINNING OF HURRICANE SEASON
Perhaps it is too soon to celebrate, but early indicators suggest below normal hurricane activity this season due, in part, to the El Niño effect.

Today’s post is to let you know there is a Hurricane/First Aid kit on the grey shelf in the garage. It is there only in the event you need some guidance in preparing for a weather event.
⚠️ ALWAYS return or replace any item taken from the kit.

I will also be keeping my eye on the sky down here in Central Florida during hurricane season. (I receive weather notifications on the WESH2 app ). I will be able to provide you with relevant information for any tropical storm or hurricane preparation and be able to answer most questions you have regarding threatening weather. My motto is “ Don’t start panicking until Disney brings in the animals.”🦒🦓. 😂

I have been here for two or three hurricane/tropical storm events and I can honestly say Windsor Hills, because of its distance from the coasts as well as its elevation, is an excellent place to be if you have to wait out a storm. That is not to say preparation isn’t important. FUN FACT: we are not likely to lose power for any extended period of time here either, because at Windsor Hills we have buried powerlines. 👍

LAST CHECKUP BEFORE WE LEAVE
The landscaper boss is stopping by shortly for another assessment of the palms, shrubs and plants before we leave. We will discuss next trimming, timing for additional fertilizer, etc. …anything we can do to help these babies along. Personally, I am very happy with the new growth that I am seeing in the crown of the palms in the lanai area..

I am a little more anxious for the Robellini palm in the front yard, although there does appear to be new growth from each of the three crowns.
