We have some very exciting news! The new boat slips are in and available for rent for $8.00 for a 24 hour period. Currently we do not have a monthly rate. Might get one next spring after we update the Park's prices. This has been a long project and we are very lucky that Evergy helped us out! So Thankful to Evergy and the volunteers that helped us get there.

The boat ramp will be closed all day on 8.5.25 for the new boat slips to go in. Sorry for the inconvenience! Linn County Park & Marina.

Bass fishing has been very good. People have been catching 6-7 pounders on a regular basis. More likely from a boat. Crappie still don't seem to be coming in for spawn. Catfish are also decent.

Fishing report from 4.29.25, our good friend Bob Gum!

Fished La Cygne Tuesday with Nick Robertson of Kansas City. Nick is a fellow drummer like myself and used to perform with the Creepy Jingles. Coincidentally, Nick's band has performed with my nephew, Daniel Gum.
Winds were light and variable throughout most of the morning. Eventually the wind began to angle out of the southeast. light rain started around 1:00.Water clarity was about 3 feet along the dam. The lake level was the same as Sunday.
Nick and I got an early start, making our first casts at 6:45 about thirty yards east of the point adjacent to the spillway then working easterly along the dam. Nick caught his first fish, a keeper, on his second cast. Within the first 15 minutes we caught around 10 fish with 4 of the bass being keepers. After fishing the dam we fished the access road, then the hump about halfway between the access road and the dam. We caught a couple on the hump. We then fished the east and west ends of the dam and finished up fishing around the roadbed on the west flat around 2:00. We caught a drum and a channel here.
Nick had his best luck throwing the Gold Rush Slim SwimZ or the Greenpumpkin Goby TRD, both on an olive green 1/15oz Roger's Lures jig. I did well with either the California Craw 2.5in ZinkerZ on a blue 1/16oz Gopher jig or the Watermelon Red BugZ on a black 1/16oz Bass Pro Shops jig. Fish were in the 2 to 10 foot zone. We used a mostly gliding with some twitching retrieve. Several strikes came while we were just dead sticking the bait.
In all we caught 86 fish. I estimate half were largemouths, a quarter were either drum or channels. We caught 1 crappie.

Linn Valley is asking if anyone in the area is missing a really nice white mixed Pitbull. They have had her for 3 days and thought it might belong to someone down here at the LaCygne Lake and it's not from here. If it's yours or someone you know please call 913/208-2603. I do not have a picture of the dog, but they can probably get you one.

It's been a pretty good week for fishing. Lots of drum, bass, and catfish. Crappie are still just starting up. A couple of people commented on a 6.5 lb. bass and another on a 7.5 lb. largemouth bass. Throw a few white bass in for the win. Come on out and go fishing! We'd be happy to see you. Water is up a bit from the rains. Weather has been good and the wind mild to not at all.

Performed a solo outing at La Cygne today. It's been just 48 hours since I last fished it. My schedule is a little busy for the remainder of the week and I may not be able to get out again until next week.
I was the first person to launch. I made my first cast around 6:45. I quit around 4:00. There were three other trailers at the marina when I quit. Winds were mild mannered coming out of the southeast. Water clarity was around 1.5 feet. Water temperatures were 55 degrees along the east riprap and 54 degrees along the dam. One stack was running while I was there.
I started my day fishing the dam. I then skipped over and fished about 150yds of the flat just north of the east riprap using a white/green Pointer78 without a strike. I did manage a couple of small largemouths throwing a Smelt TRD MinnowZ on a 1/16oz Bass Pro Shops jig. Working northward I fished about 250yds of the east side riprap, catching only a couple of fish. I then finished my day by returning to the dam and fishing the flat adjacent to the spillway. The action had slowed the last couple of hours.
I had my best luck throwing the 2.5in Greenpumpkin/red flake ZinkerZ with a 1/16oz blue Gopher jig or the California Craw HogZ on a red 1/20oz Jads's jig. I employed a shake - glide - shake retrieve. I tried working a little deeper that I normally fish. This is doable when you're by yourself. Most fish were in the 3 to 10ft zone.
On a whim last night I tested my old brass scale with my wife's 5lb dumbbell to make sure it was measuring accurately.
The results of my day were similar to the last couple of outings I had there. The numbers were pretty much the same. It seemed a different class of fish showed up.
In all I caught 16 largemouths, 6 drum and 3 channels. My five biggest largemouths weighed 5.25, 5.50, 5.75, 7.0 and 9.25lbs.
