There are no words to say regarding the tragedy that struck Lahaina, Maui on August 8th. The Maui community along with the Coconut Condos ohana has been greatly affected by these fires.

However, with this unimaginable devastation, arose the strength of the Maui community along with the nation as a whole. The amount of support, love and aloha that has been received these past couple of weeks from all of you has been overwhelming and inspiring.

We want to say mahalo for every single one of you that has reached out to Coconut Condos personally and those of you who have donated. You do not realize how much both of those contributions mean to us and how much they will help our ohana rebuild. This will be a long, tough journey of recovery, but Lahaina will rebuild and return.

Our Maui 'ohana is grateful to the many people supporting us & our community through this difficult time. While we request that you respect Lahaina & residents by giving them the space & resources they require, we please welcome you to visit the rest of the island! 🏝️

Part of keeping Maui strong & resilient is keeping Maui employed. Many of our local businesses & livelihoods depend on the visitor community, & as that dwindles, the hardships on our island multiply. Please don’t cancel your vacation, just be respectful of the situation. Mahalo 🙏🏻

This has been an incredibly tragic and unbelievable few days for the community of Lahaina and our Coconut Condos ohana. So many of our friends have lost homes, businesses or both.

Our guests, employees and our family have been evacuated from their homes, our office/warehouse burned to the ground and 90% of our owners properties are gone. Aina Nalu and most of Puamana are ash. Several of our employees lost their homes and are displaced, including one whose husband is a local Lahaina firefighter and another who was born and raised in Lahaina and housed her multigenerational family.

Many of you have asked how you can help us through this difficult time. PLEASE KEEP PRAYING. We covet your prayers and know there is so much power in them. And if there is something more tangible you'd like to do, I'd ask that you consider donating to support our employees who lost their homes in the fire. While they thankfully have their health and loved ones, it is going to take a lot of time and effort to get back to any sort of normal. 100% of the funds donated will be offered to these employees as an emergency fund to assist them with immediate expenses in the meantime until they are able to rebuild.

Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for your thoughts, prayers and encouraging words you've been sending our way. We feel the support and are so very grateful. We trust that God is still control even if it’s hard to see that through the dust and ash. Lahaina is an incredibly strong community. Unique Things To Do in West Maui ☀️

1. The islands are the breeding ground of choice for many humpback whales. The best place to see these whales are in West Maui from November until April. You can watch the whales from the shore, but you can also get an up-close look by joining a Lahaina whale-watching cruise. 🐋

2. One of the country's largest banyan trees is located right in the heart of Lahaina! Planted in front of the Lahaina Courthouse and Lahaina Harbor on 1873, this mesmerizing tree along Front Street is the size of an entire city block & stands more than 60-feet high! ✨

3. Kapalua Bay Beach is a protected cove, making it one of the best places to go snorkeling in Maui. The reef attracts diverse marine life, including sea turtles, eels, and schools of tropical fish. Since the bay is protected, it’s a calm and relaxing place for snorkeling & water activities! 🐠

4. Mala wharf was once a fully-functioning pier which served as a shipping facility. However in 1992, Hurricane Iniki completely destroyed the end of the dock. Today, the pilings from the old dock lie scattered along theocean floor is now a healthy artificial reef, which is home to a vast array of marine life - a scuba drivers dream spot! 🤿

5. Lahaina is one of the best spots on Maui if you are a beginner surfer. The area is home to a number of easy, beginner waves that offer gentle rides & are perfect for learning how to surf. Breakwall and Launiupoko are two of the most popular beginner spots 🏄🏼‍♂️

6. Lahaina is one of Hawaii’s most charming towns & it was once the capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii. The lively nightlife of Lahaina makes it an excellent place to grab a tasty dinner & relax with a tropical drink. There are plenty of laid-back bars and live music can often be heard throughout the main street. 🍹
