Ever since the devastating Maui fire of August 2023, I’ve felt the deep need to honor those who lost so much and the spirit of resilience that survived.

During our visit this past March, it finally came to me. Commission a custom piece capturing Maui’s beloved banyan tree, a symbol of resilience that defied the odds and stood through the flames.

I am grateful for Sharp Art Kelowna for bringing this magnificent tree to life in a way that will keep its spirit alive in our unit for years to come.

I can’t wait to bring it home in May for all our guests to enjoy.

We upgraded our whale watching game this trip. We added a big brother 15 x 70 binoculars to our current compact but capable 12 x 42 binoculars.

I watched, from our lanai, a pair mother whale and calf playing around this morning. It was too far to take a picture and shared, but it was great with a high-powered binoculars.

We are leaving Maui. This is a short trip flying to attend Mahana board meeting. We spent 2 days addressing all the little issues we knew of and give our beloved condo some TLC! I hope our guests will like it too!

I never like the chrome faucets and towel holders. The old faucets caused a small leak so I upgrades the faucets to polished nickel! This trip is the first time j saw it. I love it! The towel holders are now a cool mix metal and looking sharp.

One of our swing arm bedroom light was acting up so I swap it with this adorable ceramic bedside lamp... I wish I could hang it higher but since the wall is wood it’s not possible. Let’s see how I feel about it after a year.

I am now part of Mahana’s board we will come over more often.

A full rainbow appeared off our balcony, less than 50ft off the beach. It only lasted a few minutes.

My phone camera could not capture its majestic beauty, and the emotion it evokes within us.

We are here on island at the Mahana but staying at someone else unit for a the day 😞. It’s so good to be back we forgot hiw much we love it.

We have raised $4250 so far! I have family that would Zelle to me directly for this effort thank you!

Thank you all who have donated so far! I will inform our friends of your generosity this week. I am sure they will be OVER THE MOON happy as they have no income now and unlike COVID there is no monthly funds to help.

Michael and I wanted to thank each of you from the bottom of our hearts. To add a little competition to this effort I wanted to announce that for every $50 donated your name will be put into a drawing one time for 25lb MAUI GOLD pineapples (a $100 value). For those who have visited Maui and have tried MAUI GOLD you know how AWESOME these pineapples are! Our son only eats pineapple from Maui Gold because there is no after taste, and it is SO sweet!

The lack of tourism on the island causes the excess of Maui Gold on island so this too is an effort to help the local Maui vendor.

A winner will be announced when we conclude our fundraising. We will order from MAUI GOLD and ship directly to you (I don't know if it can be ship to Canada).

While the Mahana resort was spared in the devastated Lahaina wildfire, our friends were not. Jesus and Maria have been taking great care of our condo and our guests; They lost everything in the fire but were too proud to ask for help.
