This week alone, we've seen some incredible examples of what makes Lake City so special:
• A local business loaned helmets to a family so they could meet trail requirements and enjoy their adventure safely.
• A friend dropped everything to take someone to Gunnison for unexpected medical care.
• A Trail Angel shuttled hikers to Spring Creek and brought others back to town.
• Several community members heading to nearby towns offered to pick up supplies, parts, prescriptions, and necessities for friends, neighbors, and visitors.
• A business owner drove stranded visitors to Gunnison so they could rent a car. A lodging owner, despite being fully booked, helped find them a place to stay. Another community member arranged for a tow truck to recover their vehicle.
This couple couldn't stop talking about the kindness, hospitality, and generosity they experienced here. They had never been treated this way when visiting somewhere.
These are just the stories we happened to hear about. There are countless other acts of kindness happening every day throughout our community.
Lake City, let's keep showing our neighbors and our guests what makes this place so remarkable. The mountains may bring people here, but it's the people who make them want to come back.
