🧙‍♀️ : Trading Broomsticks for Paddleboards! 🧹✨

Long before it became the massive, channel-stopping Halloween spectacle we know today, Lake Havasu’s favorite spooky aquatic tradition had humble beginnings right here on Thompson Bay. Back in 2019, Sara Arnold pulled together a small, informal group of 14 friends for the very first Official Witches Paddle, launching right from the shores of The Naked Turtle.

What started as a casual grassroots gathering at the Turtle quickly captured the spirit of Havasu—growing year after year through word of mouth before evolving into the massive community event hosted by Alex Butel and team that draws hundreds of costumed witches, warlocks, and kayakers to the water every October!

🧙‍♀️🧹ONE WEEK FROM TODAY… The Witches are coming!🐢🌴

Witches will swarm The Nautical and the channel for the annual Witches Paddle. Brooms up, paddles in, pointed hats locked and loaded.

Check-in kicks off at 9:30 am at The Nautical, then the magic (and the mischief) takes over the water. After the paddle, the real spell-casting happens at the afterparty at The Naked ed turtle buckets, jack-o’-lantern burgers that’ll hex your hunger, DJ MYN spinning the vibes, and who-knows-what other potions and surprises get conjured up.

Got your paddle ready? Witch outfit packed? Good—because the channel’s about to get spellbinding.

Grab your paddle, throw on your best costume, and float into spooky-season fun with us on Sunday, October 25. We’ll be out on the water from 11am–1pm (check-in starts at 9:30am) at The Nautical, with a costume contest, raffle prizes, free entertainment, and an after party once the paddling wraps up.

📸 Happy History Monday, Havasu!

Take a look at Lake Havasu City back in the early 1970s, shortly after the London Bridge was reassembled and the Bridgewater Channel was dredged. It’s wild to see how much our desert oasis has grown from these early residential plats and bare dirt roads into the vibrant community we love today.
