We feature it on the cottage chalkboard, and in the guest guidebook, but this morning somehow marked our very first trip to Terry's Woodbury Cafe. We knew from the rave reviews that we were in for a treat. The atmosphere is like settling in among friends and family, and the food, cooked to order, from scratch, is superb. And we don't even drink coffee. A caffeine hit would elevate the experience even more! Definitely a must-try when you're in town! Just 6 minutes from the cottage.

I captured these noisy sea gulls and a gorgeous sunrise from the cottage's back deck this morning.

Summer's so great here, I couldn't pause until now to gather some June moments from in and around Lake-O ๐Ÿ˜

Here's the tail end of the fireworks show at the fairgrounds last night! I'm so glad they have revived this beloved tradition.

We did some hiking this week at Pierce Cedar Creek Institute, a pretty magical place that's worth the 37 minute trek from Lake-O. Their entire trail network and gorgeous visitor center are open to the public year-round and free of charge.

Lincoln Brick is steeped in history and scenery and well worth the 30 minute drive from Lake-O. It's also just minutes from Fitzgerald's Ledges, our favorite spot for hiking around here.

The Lincoln Brick Factory made 40,000 bricks per day at its peak, and many buildings around Michigan were constructed using the bricks it produced. The factory was located near Grand Ledge and closed in 1947. In 1975 the property was acquired by Eaton county and it is now a county park aptly named Lincoln Brick Park. The remnants of the old factory still stand in the park where you can wander around and explore the ruins.

I'm regretting my sad bowl of cereal this morning. Terry's is a favorite brunch spot around here, and for good reason!
