Hi i was one of the previous owners been 5 years this coming summer how sad I am sorry this happened to the thousands that enjoyed and visited lakebay marina and resort . I bought to restore this 1884 property built by Carl Lorenz and the historic cooper hotel .
All I have to say this new proposal by pierce county is not a comprehensive plan and the planners no this is in violation of the codes .
Parking is the first of the codes second is the water and septic and the diesel gas propane tanks none of these our addressed in fact this project to remove bulkheads and boat launch destroys the historic use of this property because of setbacks .
The old shop building is a necessity for deliveries storage power for tools and repairs plus its historic, so it can’t be used .
In fact the boat launch at home is a private persons property so what happens when this goes away.
Why can’t we have a safe boat launch with a dock that allows young children easy access and our older population grand parents that find it harder to Bend over to pick up things and maybe for our handicapped , there is laws for this too. They have had 5 years destroyed a business that payed taxes now we as taxpayers suffer . We all owe over a 100,000.00$ in taxes from the national debt . My son who has a business masters says in about 10 years we are going to have a huge problem maybe we should start to use common sense now as taxpayers The dnr and pierce county has destroyed this property there’s not even water out there they haven’t maintained one fire code there in clear violation of this I have told them I put out two cigarette fires .
For our children we need to turn this over to the moms and children let them volunteer and run this like they run there business households. And stop this unnecessary waste of money again this is for our children and the future . The other problem is like the olalla store is also being told they need to close because the nieghbor who works for Kitsap county uses his insider power to get there way this has also been the same problem at lakebay with a pierce county employee.
The other thing is the key peninsula is to be a green zone belt so that the port of tacoma can keep expanding into wet zones I was told. Dnr and pierce county have had there chance not submitting a comprehensive plan shows us the truth. Please sign and create a petition to turn this over to the moms to run it like there household business for the future of happiness for all of us and the children so let’s stop this tax burden and change the course. 🙏
