Lake Nixon Outdoor Center is a scenic 240-acre recreational facility with a 35-acre lake just minutes from the heart of Arkansas' capital.

A scenic recreational space, minutes from the heart of Little Rock, best known for our summer day camp, where for 55 years kids have had the opportunity to come home "happy, dirty, and tired" after a day of outdoor friendship, fun, and growth. We are a ministry of Second Baptist Church, downtown Little Rock, best known for our large summer day camp where for 55 years kids have had the opportunity to come home each day "happy, dirty, and tired" after a day of friendship, fun, and growth. We also care for and share this space with our community via group rental events and welcome visitors for a variety of recreational activities (hiking, biking, boating, fishing, and more).

For our version of a "Throwback Thursday" post, we want to share some snapshots from our busy staff training week that we never got around to posting in all the pre-camp busyness! To all our summer staff: we miss you, we remain grateful for your hard and caring work this summer, and we keep you in our thoughts and prayers as you return to school, to different jobs, and to all sorts of other adventures!

Happy National Dog Day to all who celebrate! And who doesn't give thanks for all our four-legged friends?

We are grateful to our friends at Pet Partners for brining therapy dogs for a visit during the first week of camp -- way back in early June.
