It has been a busy fall at Lakewood, and we have some catching up to do!
At the end of September, we welcomed visitors for the Sumter County Historical Society Ramble. It was a gorgeous fall day and a wonderful opportunity to share Lakewood’s history. Having people here to enjoy this place and learn a little about its past is one of our favorite parts of opening our doors.
Tickets included a delicious BBQ lunch topped with Panola BBQ Club sauce. Jake’s BBQ just can’t be beat, and we were happy to help support the Historical Society and its work to preserve the stories and places that make Sumter County special.
The day also got us thinking about more ways to bring people together at Lakewood. Overnight stays and weddings will always be a huge part of what we do, but we love the idea of giving our neighbors and friends more reasons to spend an afternoon here.
We have a few ideas taking shape, and one keeps coming back to the top of the list: live music on the lawn! Good music, something good to eat, and an evening with friends sounds like a pretty good combination to us. Who would be up for it? 🙋🏼♀️
