And so the time has come to say goodbye to our Victorian Dreams Bed & Breakfast. As many of you know, we closed the B & B in December of 2019 due to changes in the industry. Both houses (sold in March and June) were sold as private residences and I know each family will add their own touches but still keep the Victorian charm. To you our past guests, we say thank you for the wonderful memories, stories and laughs we shared. You will always have a special place in our hearts. We will miss these beautiful homes and the guests we shared them with. Our website has been taken down but we will keep this page open for those wondering why they can't reach us. Take care everyone!

UPDATE: WE ARE SOLD OUT OF LETTER "K" AND LETTER "L" COFFEE MUGS. Last call . . . . for mugs and robes! We are sad but happy to announce that both houses have sold and on June 8th the Bed & Breakfast will close for good after almost 30 years. Although we are sad to end this chapter we know trying to reopen during these uncertain times would never be the same as how we've run our business the past 9 years. Due to the Pandemic, we are not able to have an Estate sale, however you can find the furniture we are selling on Facebook Marketplace. Also, we have mugs and robes left to remind you of your time spent with us. Photo's are attached below. Mugs have never been used and are $8 each plus shipping (mugs retailed for $20) and our gently used robes are $20 each (a $100 value) plus shipping. Robes (pictured after the coffee mugs) come in Large and XL only. Hurry; mugs, robes and furniture must be purchased by June 7th ~ they won't be available after this date! Dear Past guests: We hope you are doing well. Many of you are wondering if we're still going to have the Estate Sale. Once the main house is sold, we will post on our page when it will be. Thank you so much for your patience! In the meantime, we have a lot of our coffee mugs left and also the robes that were in the guest suites. John & I would like to thank each of you for sharing your memories of your stays with us. The heartfelt love and support in each of your posts made me cry but also made us feel blessed and loved. As we mentioned we are sad to close this chapter in our lives for we truly loved being innkeepers, getting to know you and seeing you each time you came back for a visit. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for entrusting us with your special getaways, engagements (while here), wedding nights, anniversary's and birthdays. We will miss you and the great conversations, stories and laughter we shared!

Many of you have asked what comes next for us. To answer that we want you to know why we’re closing. Sorry for the long read!
The travel industry has changed drastically in recent years and it has become difficult to compete with Expedia, Bookings.com, etc. When you google our B & B we aren’t the first listing that comes up, it’s usually Expedia. When you book with them we pay them a commission which affects our bottom line. For you to see us first, we need to spend thousands of dollars in advertising with Google. Not being able to outspend Expedia for the Google ads killed our direct website activity.
It is also hard to compete with AirBnB as they don’t have to follow the same rules & regulations that we adhere to. AirBnB has become a worldwide thorn in the side of hotels, small inns and B & B’s as we continue to lose business to places that are not licensed and don’t offer the same experience that a true B & B does. Most are also not even required to pay sales tax.
Sadly, in the past few years Google has also changed their search algorithms making it harder to drive traffic to our website. Because of these things, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to close the business and find other jobs so we’ll be able to retire in 10 years. We hope to stay in WI but move closer to our kids/grandson.
Why are we telling you this? Because we care very deeply for the small business owner (not just our fellow Bed & Breakfast owners). Ma & Pa businesses are becoming a thing of the past. We are alarmed at how many are being forced to close or being bought up by the big guys. In Wisconsin alone, 551 small dairy farms have closed this year.
For those who have never owned their own small business, a lot of blood, sweat and tears go into what we do but many still follow their dreams (including us) and became small business owners. This means 14+ hour days, hard work and missing family events, meals and time with friends. Don’t get us wrong, we loved being innkeepers and will miss it. In closing, we ask that you please support your Ma & Pa establishments before they become a thing of the past.
