If you think Ohio is flat, you haven't stood on the rim trail at Conkle's Hollow. 🍂 This gorge drops over 200 feet straight down, and in October, the view from the top might be the single best fall foliage display in the entire state.
The rim trail isn't for the faint of heart, narrow paths, steep drop-offs, and views that stretch for miles in every direction. But the payoff is unforgettable. Standing at the edge with the whole canopy blazing red and gold below you, it's hard to believe you're still in the Midwest. Conkle's Hollow proves that Ohio's natural beauty can absolutely hold its own.
Hocking Hills keeps surprising people who think they've seen all of Ohio. 🦅 Have you hiked the rim trail at Conkle's Hollow? Drop a comment and let us know, and follow for more of Ohio's most breathtaking views.

Massive sandstone caves, Hidden waterfalls. One of the most beautiful corners of Ohio.🌲
HOCKING HILLS ROAD TRIP
Ohio | ~30 miles | 1–3 days

Hocking Hills is one of the Midwest's most spectacular outdoor destinations, packed with towering sandstone cliffs, hidden caves, waterfalls, and narrow gorges carved over millions of years. Despite covering a relatively small area, the region is home to some of Ohio's most iconic hiking trails, making it one of the best weekend road trips in the state.

STOP 1: Hocking Hills Winery
Start your trip with a visit to one of the area's most popular wineries, offering local wines in a peaceful woodland setting just minutes from the park.

STOP 2: Rock House
The only true cave in Hocking Hills, featuring a long tunnel-like chamber with towering sandstone walls and natural window openings that give it the appearance of an ancient fortress.

STOP 3: Old Man's Cave
The park's most famous destination, where stone bridges, waterfalls, winding staircases, and deep sandstone gorges create one of the most scenic hikes in Ohio.

STOP 4: Cedar Falls
A short forest walk leads to the largest waterfall by volume in Hocking Hills, cascading into a picturesque rocky gorge surrounded by towering cliffs.

STOP 5: Ash Cave
One of the largest recess caves east of the Mississippi River, featuring an enormous sandstone overhang, a seasonal waterfall, and an easy accessible trail suitable for nearly everyone.

📏 Distance: ~30 miles
⏱ Ideal time: 1–3 days
🍂 Best season: September–October for spectacular fall colors, or late spring after heavy rain for the strongest waterfalls.
đź’ˇ Tip: Visit Old Man's Cave and Ash Cave early in the morning on weekends to avoid the biggest crowds and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
