Can anyone tell us, are these Turkey Vulchers or Eagles?

Long Pine Days is this weekend, and we're honored to donate a two night stay at Pine Valley Resort to this year's auction. Best part is that the bidding will be available online, making it easy for everyone to participate, whether you're attending Long Pine Days or not.

The winning bidder will get to choose any available cabin and enjoy a relaxing getaway in the Nebraska Sandhills. Bidding details will be shared later this week!

All proceeds from the auction support the Long Pine Chamber of Commerce and help fund community projects, events, and improvements throughout the year. We are proud to support the community that supports us, and we look forward to welcoming the winning bidder for a memorable stay.

This morning’s visitor was a White lined Sphinx Moth, stopping by for breakfast in the pollinator garden.

When we earned our Nebraska Pollinator Habitat certification, I had no idea just how many pollinators would eventually take up residence here. At the time, I still thought gardening was mostly about pretty blooms.

It was my late mother, who taught me how to become a master gardener before her passing. She showed me that real gardening is about far more than flowers. It is about creating an ecosystem, building balance, and making a space where life WANTS to exist.

Now every season brings something new, and moments like this remind me that nature notices when you make room for it.❤️

My Mother would be tickled pink to see just how far the grounds have come since purchasing in 2022. I love you Mom, and I miss you dearly.

“A nation without a flag is like a furnace without a fire. What is a flag but a piece of cloth? Yet it stands for something far greater than itself.

What does one see when they look upon the Stars and Stripes? They see that they are not alone.” That they still dare to hope. Hope for a better future, one filled with endless possibilities. Hope for a country where every person is free to shine as God created them, without fear.

The next time you see a flag, remember that it represents far more than freedom alone. It stands as a reminder of the brave men and women who gave their lives in sacrifice so you and I could live without fear and pursue the blessings of liberty.

This Memorial Day, take a moment not only to count your blessings for living in a country founded on freedom, but also to remember the cost of that freedom. Someone gave their life. A mother or father gave their child. A husband or wife lost their spouse. A brother, sister, or best friend never came home, so you could live free today.

Big news from Pine Valley Resort

Candace Larson, owner of Pine Valley Resort, is officially licensed to officiate weddings.

She recently performed her very first ceremony and received wonderful feedback after helping create a ceremony that truly reflected their relationship, personalities, and vision for the day.

Rather than using a standard, one size fits all script, Candace worked directly with the couple to personalize every detail. From incorporating meaningful scriptures, to helping guide the vows, to adjusting the flow and wording of the ceremony itself, every piece was thoughtfully tailored to what mattered most to them.

A wedding ceremony should feel personal, genuine, and memorable, not rushed or generic. Candace is committed to making sure each couple feels heard, comfortable, and fully involved in creating a ceremony that reflects their values.

Whether you are planning a simple intimate ceremony or a larger wedding celebration, Pine Valley Resort is excited to now offer wedding officiating as part of helping couples create meaningful moments together.

And this service is not limited to Pine Valley Resort guests.

Candace is available for hire to officiate weddings for any couple getting married within Brown or Rock County, whether your celebration is at Pine Valley Resort or another venue.

If you are planning a wedding and looking for an officiant who will take the time to help create a ceremony that matches your vision and personality, we would love to visit with you.

Quick reminder for our guests, because this one really matters.

If anything out of the ordinary happens during your stay, especially illness, please let us know right away.

We had a guest call this morning to let us know their child got sick overnight. That one call allows us to respond the right way instead of just the fast way.

When we are informed, we can:
• Isolate all affected laundry to prevent cross contamination
• Use targeted cleaning methods designed to eliminate viruses
• Take the cabin out of service for a minimum of 48 hours to fully sanitize

That last step is important! Many places clean and move on. We choose to slow down and do it right, because your health and safety comes first.

But none of this works if we don’t know.

So if something happens, even if it feels minor or a little uncomfortable to mention, please reach out. You are helping us protect every guest and every staff member who walks through that door after you.

We appreciate you working with us on thisđź’•
