Around 10 minutes down the road

Down a quiet stretch outside Louisville, Mississippi, Lake Tiak-OKhata feels like the kind of place you're lucky to stumble upon. You pull in and the first thing you notice is that calm water, tall pines, and that slow, easy hush that makes you breathe a little deeper. You spend the day hopping between the sandy beach, the swim area, and the walking trails, then slide a kayak out for a smooth loop along the shoreline. You book a cabin or campsite, cast a line off the bank, and catch that golden-hour view that makes every photo look unreal. Getting around is simple, the pace is laid-back, and everything feels like a solid value for a full day (or weekend) reset. You leave already planning the next trip back.

This sounds like a lot of fun!

If the weather holds like it’s supposed to, March 28 might be a good day to take the bike out.😎

If you ride over through Sturgis that afternoon, Diane Jackson Memorial Park will have blacksmiths working a forge from 1–4 pm. Hot steel, anvils, knives being made, vendors, and axe throwing.🔥🔪

Then Stateline Strings will be playing bluegrass at the pavilion from 4–6 pm.🎻🪕

Not necessarily motorcycle related but it might be worth a stop while you’re out riding.🤟🏽

Fun!

Get ready to rumble!!!

We’ve got a lot of NEW riders coming to the Sturgis MISSISSIPPI Bike Rally this year in August. 🏍️🌎

😳😲Some who have only ever used Mississippi as a pass-through state or skipped it altogether. 🚛💨

🤔A ton of you are asking about the roads so I took the time to put this together for yall, with specific roads and details 🛣️

& Mississippians correct me if you think I’m wrong or if you disagree!

What you can expect in Mississippi:

• Low traffic overall 🚗⬇️
• Rolling hills ⛰️
• Long scenic stretches 🌄
• Plenty of regroup spots 🅿️
• Open road feeling 🏍️💨
• Wildlife 🦌 Deer are common statewide.
• Out-of-state riders from drier climates underestimate MS Humidity. 🥵

• Mississippi roads are one thing. Mississippi people are another.

• Somebody’s grandma will probably tell you to ‘be careful on that thing.’
—————————————————
If you want relaxed cruise. -> Natchez Trace 🌳

If you want curves & elevation → MS HWY 587 ⛰️

If you want to see the beach → US HWY 90 🌊

If you want national forest calm → Hwy 29 🌲

1. Natchez Trace 📍(NTP)
This is one of the most well known MS roads. ✔️
• 310 miles through MS
• 444 total through MS, AL & TN
• 2-lane THE WHOLE WAY🛣️
• NO commercial traffic 🚫🚛
• Speed limit 50 mph 🐢
• NO red lights 🚦❌
• NO stop signs 🛑❌
• On/off ramps are the main points of access 🔁
• Smooth pavement 👌
• Scenic pull-offs & restrooms every 30 miles 🚻🌄
• NO gas on the parkway⛽️ 🚫
• Riders must exit to refuel. ✍🏻
• Cell Service is decent but drops in some wooded areas. 📲
• Natchez Trace is federally patrolled. 🚔
• Portions of it close periodically for various reasons (like ice storm clean up) 🚧

😎This is a relaxed cruise road.
Good for: group rides 👥, stretching out 🏍️💨, sightseeing 📸 It’s peaceful. It’s smooth. It’s steady.🌅

🌲🔥 Highway 29 (DeSoto National Forest)
• 33 miles 🛣️
• Forest scenery 🌳🌳🌳
• Light traffic 🚗
• Truckers allowed 🚛
• Nice flowing curves ↩️↪️
• Cell service can be patchy in forest/hill sections. 📲
Good quiet woodsy ride. 🌲
Watch for wildlife 🦌⚠️
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
⛰️🏍️ MS HWY 587 (Secret Pearl River Run) 🌊

👉 This one requires attention.
Not beginner-friendly in spots ⚠️

• 30 miles
• Very hilly ⛰️
• Blind curves 👀
• 90° turns 🔄
• Definitely a challenge
• Stop points: Red Bluff & Flint Creek Reservoir 🏞️
• Some forest or rural routes like this one have limited stations late at night. ✍🏻
• Cell service can be patchy in forest/hill sections. 📲
• Not great for group riding, it requires tighter spacing and experience.
Good for riders who actually like to work the throttle and brakes 🏍️🔥
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
🌊☀️ US HWY 90 (Gulf Coast)

• 80 miles
• Beach strip ride 🏖️
• Coastal views 🌅
• Mostly flat
• A LOT More traffic 🚗🚗🚗
• Multiple lights 🚦
• More lively 🥳👯💃
• Mix of locals & tourists 👥

This is a vibe ride. Not a performance road.
🤩 Good pavement. Great scenery. Good for cruising with the wind coming off the water 🌊💨

So which one are you riding when you roll into Sturgis?

Mississippi people ? Did I miss anything??
