This is a magical time of year to visit Steelhead Lodge!

Autumn is definitely in the air this morning. We enjoyed our morning coffee while watching an eagle soar through the skies above the Salmon River.

The fish are rolling in the Maynard Hole, the elk are bugling, and the crisp mornings are reminding us that fall has arrived in the Salmon River Canyon.

Take a moment and listen closely… about 14 seconds in, you can hear the elk bugling in the distance.

There’s just something special about fall at Steelhead Lodge, Lucile ID . Come experience it for yourself!

What a fun day at the Big Water Blowout Dutch Oven Cook-Off in Riggins yesterday!

Our innkeepers had a great time visiting with fellow cooks, sharing food, and being part of such a wonderful community event. We were honored to receive 3rd place for our baked tortellini entrée and 1st place for our vanilla cinnamon monkey bread dessert, but the real reward was spending the day with so many great people and enjoying the friendly competition.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit, taste, and support all of the talented cooks. We're already looking forward to next year!

Not only our guests, and the birds enjoy the cherries from the trees here at Steelhead Lodge—the butterflies do too!
I was lucky enough to capture this photo while enjoying a few cherries from one of our many cherry trees.
Did you know we also have an herb garden available for our guests to enjoy while cooking on-site? It's just one of the many little touches that make a stay here special.
