IMPORTANT ELECTION INFORMATION
For the November 3, 2026 General Election

VOTING BY MAIL
Absent Voter Ballots are available at the Office of the Township Clerk, 1699 S. Pere Marquette Hwy., Ludington, MI 49431 beginning 40 days before each election. Registered voters may contact the Pere Marquette Charter Township Clerk to obtain an application for an absent voter ballot or go to www.Michigan.gov/Vote .

Township Office hours are 8:00am – 12:30pm and 1:30pm – 5:00pm.

The Constitutionally-mandated early voting period is October 24 – November 1, 2026

The Fall Flushing of Water Mains will take place on Wednesday, October 21st & Thursday, October 22nd.

The water main flushing will begin at 12:00 a.m.(midnight), running until approximately 6:00 a.m. each day.

This process will improve the water quality throughout the water systems. During and shortly after the process there may be some discoloration or sediment in the water.

The water discoloration is due to mineral deposits that are flushed through the system and there are no health hazards with the discolored water.

If discoloration occurs, run cold water for a few minutes and it should clear up.

UPDATE FROM MDOT

US-31 Ramp & Total Closure: September 28 - October 2

Intermittent daily (7 a.m. to 8 p.m.) ramp closures are scheduled for this Monday through Friday, October 2 on US-31 at S. Pere Marquette Highway and at US-10. Northbound US-31 is scheduled to close between S. Pere Marquette Highway and US-10 this Wednesday through Friday, October 2 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.

⚠️ TRAFFIC ALERT ⚠️

FROM MDOT:

US-31 construction in Mason County begins on the 28th of September 2026. This project involves milling and repaving from Chauvez road to US-10 Hwy, including all the ramps.
Here is the plan for the first week:

On the 28th, work will start. The SB on-ramp from Pere Marquette Hwy will be closed, along with the Northbound off-ramp to Pere Marquette Hwy. Additionally, the Northbound on-ramp from Pere Marquette Hwy will be closed. These closures will last for the 28th and 29th. Traffic will be directed south on Pere Marquette Hwy to Oceana Dr. or north to US-10 on Pere Marquette Hwy.

On September 30th 2026 and October 1st, all three ramps at US-10 will be shut down. During these days, Southbound traffic from US-10 will be routed onto Pere Marquette Hwy to head south to the Southbound on-ramp from Pere Marquette Hwy. Northbound US-31 will be closed, and all traffic will be diverted off the freeway at Pere Marquette Hwy. This intersection will be set up as an all-way stop. Northbound traffic will be directed north on Pere Marquette Hwy to US-10.

Please share this information.
As always, this work is weather-dependent, so if it rains, the schedule will be adjusted. Message boards will be in place to direct traffic, along with some detour signs.

Republic Services Notice: Monday, September 14th
Republic's Recycling is running behind today. They will not be able to complete Recycling collection today. A plan is in place for collecting NORTH Pere Marquette Charter Township Recycling 1st thing tomorrow morning.

Activate New Traffic Light – Jebavy Drive & Johnson Road

Wednesday Afternoon on September 9, 2026

Pere Marquette Township

The new traffic signal that was recently installed and placed in flashing mode will be activated on Wednesday afternoon on September 9, 2026. The new traffic signal will be active with red, yellow and green lights for traffic. Please be aware of the new signal and proceed with caution. There may be some future adjustments in the cycle times for the optimum movement at the intersection during different times of the day.

From MDOT: US-31 Resurfacing Begins Sept. 14 in Ludington

LUDINGTON, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing $3.7 million to resurface 4.6 miles of US-31 between US-10 and Chauvez Road in Mason County.

County: Mason

Closest community: Ludington

Start date: Monday, Sept. 14, 2026

Estimated end date: Mid-November 2026

Traffic restrictions: Lane, ramp and total closures will be in effect throughout the project. Traffic will be detoured using US-31 Business Route (S. Pere Marquette Highway). Temporary all-way stops will be used at the northbound US-31 exit 166 to S. Pere Marquette Highway and at the Oceana Drive/Frontage Road intersection with S. Pere Marquette Highway.
