Who Likes Waterfalls ?
There are many Waterfalls within a short distance to Cabin Creekwood.
Today we look at Crabtree Falls which lies about 30 minutes away (20 miles)
It boasts a 1 mile hiking trail to the top with great views of how this feature was formed.
Crabtree Creek was originally a small tributary to the Tye River.
The Tye River (a faster, more aggressive, lower-elevation river) eroded its surrounding bedrock at a much quicker rate than the smaller Crabtree Creek. Because the main river cut its valley deeper, Crabtree Creek was left "hanging" high above, causing its water to plunge over a sheer cliff face into the valley below.
